Father and son joined Michigan State in 2015. As Jim became the head coach for the Wolverines, son Jay took on many responsibilities. From tight ends coach and running backs coach, Jay also held the title of interim head coach for 3 games at Michigan.
Curveball! The Seahawks are working on hiring Michigan’s Jay Harbaugh as their special teams coordinator, per sources. So rather than join his dad Jim in LA, Jay Harbaugh will team up with ex-Wolverine staffmate Mike Macdonald in Seattle.

However, the position he is reported to be joining at the Seahawks is of the special teams’ coach. The same position he held for the longest in his 9-year stint with the Wolverines.
With only ink left to be put on the paper, Jay, just like his father, is ready to begin his career in the NFL once again. And the 34-year-old could be, for the first time, working solo, without the supervision of his father or uncle. And if he gets the chance to face any of them in the gridiron, he would be hoping for a result like the last time!
It’s a family affair
Before joining his dad at Michigan State, Jay worked under his uncle John Harbaugh. Jay was part of John’s coaching staff at the Baltimore Ravens. And he was there when his uncle defeated his dad to win the Super Bowl XLVII in 2013.
