Aaron Rodgers and the Jets ended their 2024 season on a bitter note under the interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich. Since the Jets’ last game, or even before that, the franchise has been in a whirlwind of head-coach search. Ulbrich has stepped down and will be returning to the Atlanta Falcons as a defensive coordinator. Surprising news, right? The Jets are now interviewing many candidates for the HC job. One name fans and experts are expecting is Aaron Glenn.
Fans are debating if Aaron Glenn would be a good choice or not. And as the issue is taking center stage, a New York reporter has come up with the problem that the Jets would face if Glenn takes charge. An NY reporter, John Jastremksi, was on a panel with other reporters at Sportnite. On the question, “Did the performance of the Lions’ defense on Saturday change your view of Aaron Glenn?”, Jastremksi replied with his take. He said, “No not in the least Look for me Aaron Glenn has a terrific resume and will support his Jet head coach except for the fact that he doesn’t have coaching experience.”

He further added, “So to me, his game against Washington is not a determining factor on whether or not he’s going to be my head coach. My concern for the Jets is I want somebody with head coaching experience Simple as that.” Aaron Glenn has worked as a defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions since 2021. He has also worked as defensive backs coach for the New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns. And has been head coach at an NFL team. One of the important parts about Aaron Glenn and Aaron Rodgers’ Jets is, that he was the first pick of the Jets in 1994. He was with them from 1994 to 2021. That’s why his relationship with the franchise would matter here.
But reporters, such as JJ, want an HC with previous head coaching experience. Apart from Glenn, the two most important coaches the Jets have interviewed are tough contenders to Aaron Glenn.

The Jets completed their 16th interview for the head coach position and the candidate was Commanders defensive coordinator, Joe Whitt Jr. In his illustrious career, he has worked with the Falcons, Packers, Browns, and Cowboys. He has the same problem as Aaron Glenn has – no head coaching experience.
But… the most important HC job interview for the Jets was with Mike Vrabel. He already signed up with the Patriots. Before taking this job, Vrabel was the HC of the Titans where he received the NFL Coach of the Year Award. So, that’s at least one less rival for Glenn and Joe Whitt Jr. to worry about.
