There has been a lot of water flown under the New York Bridge since Aaron Rodgers’s team lost the 2024 season badly. The New York Jets started the offseason and their HC search is also over as they got their former player as a HC- Aaron Glenn. But one of the most important questions left unanswered is Aaron Rodgers’ future with the Jets. A New York reporter has revealed a shocking fact and gave a take on this issue.

Connor Hughes, an NFL reporter for SNYtv, was on the daily show ‘SportsNite.’ Hughes has revealed that there is one big issue that is stopping the Jets from having good opportunities in terms of QB and coaches too. As the Jets are looking for their offensive coordinator, the uncertainty over QB’s career has become a mounting issue. The reporter said, “The Jets going into the season, do they have a realistic shot at a quarterback to draft one? No one is going to be their quarterback next year. No one really knows Rodgers or Tyrod Taylor’s [future]. I don’t think it’s an ideal situation for a new offensive coordinator.” That’s really a concern. After Aaron Glenn became Jets head coach, he also addressed Aaron Rodgers’s future.

The former Jets player and current HC said, “This thing is not about Rodgers. This is about the roster. And we plan on building the best roster we can. Aaron Rodgers will be talked about. We’ve already texted that communication with Aaron Rodgers. And as we continue to look at the roster, we’ll make decisions accordingly. And that’s with a number of people on the team.” It has been highly anticipated that Glenn is good at straightforward decisions and will not tolerate the terrible uncertainty Rodgers has created, which is reflected in the hiring of OC as well.

A-Rod could deliver results for the team. The main reason behind his three-year $112,500,000 was he could end the playoffs drought. But since Rodgers’s induction also the Jets have ended up being losers. In the 2023 season, he just played a single game. In the 2024 season, he covered 3897 yards with 28 touchdowns. Though he crossed the 500 career TDs mark, that wasn’t enough. He got sacked 40 times, dropping his QB rating to 48.1. The Jets closed their season at 5-12.

Out of his three-year tenure, Rodgers has one year left in the contract. The salary cap hit he carries for the Jets for 2025 is a staggering $23,500,000. That’s why it has been difficult for the franchise to make strict decisions.

While the Jets are looking to get certainty on QB’s future, Woody Johnson and Christopher Johnson would lose important pieces for their staff for the 2025 season. Wanna know what’s the issue? Let’s dive deep.

Wait, just rewind a bit, and let’s get back to what the NY reporter has said about the potential loss of the Jets as the Rams tight end coach Nick Caley. The reporter said, “Nick Caley I think has been the Jets’ number one target for a while. The issue is that he has many, many opportunities coming off the Sean McVay coaching tree.” But he also said, “I think Nick Caley, who was interviewed for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ job, interviewed for the Houston Texans job, I think they’re probably more likely to land him.” And why is that? Because the Bucs are stable with Baker Mayfield. The Texans are also confident with C.J. Stroud.

That’s Nick Caley, though he was a top pick of the Johnsons, is likely to go for two great opportunities he has- the Texans and the Buccaneers. Nick Caley is a 42-year-old assistant coach of the Los Angeles Rams. He has worked with Sean McVay. For the Rams, he worked as a tight-end coach and pass game coordinator in the 2024 season. He was also a TE coach and fullbacks’ coach for the Patriots. And the cherry on the top is he is a two-time Super Bowl champion. Oh, an unlucky year for the Jets’ offensive coordinator position.

So, to have such great coaches, the Jets must decide on Aaron Rodgers’s future. However, Rodgers also hasn’t clearly talked about his future. But as updates are unfolding, it would be worth knowing how the Jets’ future will be under Rodgers’s shadow.
