The New England Patriots aim for a wholesale revamp of their roaster. At first, it went down with the Patriots’ former coach, Bill Belichick; a 24-year-old stint with the Patriots was over after an underwhelming season with only four wins. This was followed by the NFL GOAT, Tom Brady, also reacting and extending his gratitude to the head coach. Now, Jerod Mayo has been added in his place as head coach. A similar change will take place with players as well.
Like the coaching position, the Patriots plan to add top players to the team under Mayo’s shadow. The current head coach, Mayo, even hinted at his plans in some interviews. Moreover, South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler’s recent revelation indicated Mayo’s and the Patriots’ execution of NFL draft plans.

The Patriots are hunting for college players who might fit the team well. They aim for the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl, where over 100 prospects practice. And it seems they are eyeing South Carolina QB Rattler. A recent X post by reporter Zac Ventola shed light on the quarterback’s conversation with the interviewer regarding their practice with the Patriots in the Senior Bowl.
The quarterback said, “It’s been cool. You know, run with their offense. It’s been enjoyable. He’s been in the league for a long time and knows a lot about the game.” He added,” Spoke with them a few times, um, you know, along with the team. Yeah, all the teams are here. It’s cool to be able to take on them.”

Interestingly, this conversation hinted at the possibility of the Patriots bringing a specific player into the league, as they have spoken to him several times. When looking at the quarterback stats, it is impressive to see his performance. This young talent made a name for himself by achieving the highest yards per attempt in Week 2 of Senior Ball, with 17.1 attempts, followed by Kenny Picket and Sam Ehlinger. Furthermore, he led South Carolina to a 5-7 record in 2023, completing with 3,186 yards.
He could be a top pick for the Patriots based on his stats. But Jared Mayo will make the ultimate decision.

Last Wednesday, after the press conference, Mayo hinted at his intention to draft a quarterback by saying that the Patriots are “going to draft the best player for a critical position.” Previously, the head coach listed some prospects for quarterback roles, including Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels. But considering Spencer Rattler’s closeness with the Patriots, it seemed he could also be an option. What are your thoughts on that?
