The Patriots have had a disastrous season in the NFL in 2023. Amidst Bill Belichick‘s future under constant speculation, the team is at a crossroads. Just like Jones, Belichick’s future is uncertain as well. News came out earlier in the season that he had signed a contract extension with the franchise, but a lot of water has flown since. The Patriots are out of playoff hopes effectively, after a 2-8 record with 7 games remaining in the season. And a significant part of the community believes that Belichick has had enough with the Patriots, and vice versa.

Call it a sinking ship, call it a chess game that’s already lost… it’s a sad turnaround that a few saw coming in the end. The pieces of Belichick’s game are falling down one by one, and Mac Jones is just one of them. Although he has been given another lifeline to save the downhill Patriots, no one knows how long it is before the game is over.
