The air in Pittsburgh feels different these days — colder, quieter, almost uneasy. Just a year ago, Russell Wilson walked into town with the kind of swagger only a Super Bowl champion can carry. Steelers fans hoped he’d be their missing piece, the veteran QB who could turn fourth-quarter nail-biters into playoff wins. Now? Wilson’s locker might as well be collecting dust, and whispers of his exit are louder than a Terrible Towel on game day.
But Wilson isn’t the only big name on the Steelers’ chopping block. Enter Najee Harris—the bulldozing back who’s spent four seasons plowing through AFC North defenses. Four straight 1,000-yard campaigns, and yet Pittsburgh seems ready to pack his bags too. So, what’s really happening in Steel City? A reset? A rebuild? Or just cold-blooded business as usual? One thing’s certain — the NFL rumor mill is spinning faster than Wilson’s scramble drill, and the Steelers are at the center of it all.
Well, the rumors were that several teams, including the Titans, might be interested in signing Russell Wilson. But do they really want him? Senior NFL reporter Charles Robinson noted on X, “Recalibrating a bit: Got the sense the #Titans don’t have strong Russell Wilson interest. I think his market beyond #Giants is flat. Cam Ward is definitely still in play in Tennessee. And Browns aren’t done at QB. They’re going to throw several moves at it before it’s all over.”

Russell Wilson is a top QB in the market. And these teams don’t have a reliable and durable quarterback. So, Wilson could be a great fit for them. After all, last year, he had a solid record, at least until a slump in form turned the narrative on its head. Better than this previous year for the Broncos though. If we talk about the stats, Wilson recorded 16 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions in the last season. In addition, he led the team into the playoffs. Hence, when he was about to hit the free agent market, many teams were reported to sign him.

But those couple of teams touted as a perfect match for Russell Wilson have reportedly lost interest in him. Strange, but it’s not uncommon for franchises to keep all their options open this early in the offseason. Now it remains to be seen what happens with Wilson. But one thing is sure: as per Gerry Dulac, “The Steelers do not appear interested in re-signing Russell Wilson, but that could change pending the outcome of other potential deals.”
So, if we talk about the Steelers—on one hand, the team is moving away from Russell Wilson. On the other hand, they are also reportedly parting ways with RB Najee Harris.

From Wilson Najee Harris surprise — Steelers’ offseason shake-up gains momentum
The Pittsburgh Steelers are making bold moves this offseason, and Najee Harris is the latest headline. After four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, Harris has been a cornerstone of Pittsburgh’s offense since arriving as the 24th overall pick in 2021. Durable, dependable, and productive — he seemed like a lock to remain in Steel City.
But not anymore. The Los Angeles Chargers are reportedly finalizing a deal to bring Harris on board, offering him a one-year contract worth up to $9.5 million. For a team in search of a consistent ground game, Harris fits the bill perfectly. The NFL Rumors account on X posted, “#Chargers are finalizing a deal with #Steelers RB Najee Harris.” Well, four consecutive seasons with 1,000+ yards on his rookie contract scream ‘come get me‘ to all the other 31 franchises.

What’s even good enough to guarantee continuity in the league anymore as teams pursue top signal callers while juggling salary caps? Harris’ ability to thrive as both a powerful rusher and a reliable receiving option made him invaluable in Pittsburgh. He started 71 games across his Steelers tenure, including playoff appearances, and rarely missed time. Yet, despite his steady production, Pittsburgh appears ready to shift gears.
The Chargers locked in Harris from the Steel City for a year giving him up to a $9.5 million contract. This unexpected move signals a changing identity for the Steelers’ offense. While Harris’ departure leaves a significant void in their backfield, the Chargers now gain a proven workhorse to anchor their run game. For Harris, it’s a fresh start in Los Angeles — and perhaps a chance to prove he’s still one of the league’s most versatile backs.
And the Steelers? Well, with Justin Fields off to the Jets as well, they are still juggling to find the right balance to their roster this offseason. Rumors say they’re looking at… wait for it, Aaron Rodgers. Wonder how that will play out.
