The Las Vegas Raiders are so in the mood for firing lately. Just a couple of days after firing the head coach, Antonio Pierce, the team has parted ways with the general manager, Tom Telesco. Any similarity? It seems like the Raiders are keeping their staff for a year’s tenure. If you fail to give results, you are fired. It’s as simple as that for them. However, the interesting part is reported that Tom Brady has played a crucial role in all these firings.

“From what I was told, Telesco was fired mostly because ownership seems to prefer having the general manager and head coach more connected—like a cohesive partnership—rather than something that feels more arranged or forced. Brady has lots of influence in Las Vegas,” Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported.

Translation: Pierce and Telesco don’t have a shared history of working and despite their plan to work effectively, the ownership tends to prefer a strong connection between the GM and head coach. “Telesco appeared safe Tuesday when the Raiders fired coach Antonio Pierce — a decision that the general manager was not involved in,” Vic Tafur of The Athletic remarked while sharing more insight on the news. “But the more that Mark Davis and Tom Brady talked, league sources said, they decided it was time to hire a new GM as well.”

If we’re not wrong, the same thing happened with Pierce as well. The Raiders had the head coach do an end-of-season press conference on Monday. And voilà; he was fired the very next day. That seemed to dissolve Pierce’s plans for coaching staff changes. Because it was reported that the head coach had already made plans for potential coaching staff changes in the roster. That too, just a few hours before he learned about the firing.

All in all, Mark Davis and Tom Brady are now on a hunt to find a new head coach and general manager, all at the same time. Sure, it doesn’t seem to be a logical alignment, but it is what it is.

Tom Brady already has a candidate for the head coach post

With Pierce’s departing from the Raiders locker room, the Las Vegas team has now become the sixth team in the NFL with a vacant HC post. Luckily, they’ve got plenty of options now. Considering the 4-13 standings and the quarterback concerns, they are surely looking for the best man to take charge.

According to Russini, the Raiders have got a potential candidate to fill out their HC post. “I still think the biggest win the Raiders have going for them right now is Ben Johnson agreed to interview with them,” she reported not a long while ago. “Thanks to Tom Brady.” Seems like Brady is all in for the head coach’s search.

Earlier, it was reported that the legendary QB has requested his former coach, Bill Belichick, for the head coach role. However, the rumors were squashed pretty quickly by Bill’s team. Luckily, Johnson has agreed to interview with the Raiders. Not to mention, Johnson is kind of one of the most wanted for the head coach role lately.

But here’s the kicker: Johnson is reported to be selective and may only interview with the Bears and the Patriots. Now, it looks like we have returned to the starting point. Tom Brady and Mark Davis need to dig deeper with their search this coming off-season for a new HC.
