Aaron Rodgers is crystal clear about what he wants from the approaching teams this time. After a year (officially 2-year) with the New York Jets, the quarterback’s bus is currently on halt. It’s not like the four-time MVP has no proposals yet. Two offerings are already sitting on the table for him, as per reports. But the thing is, his waiting teams are also waiting for him. Wait, what?

To the people who are unaware, Aaron Rodgers reportedly has offers on the table from the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Giants. This is evident in what ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on Sunday, March 16. He noted: “‘I’m told from sources that Rodgers does have standing offers from the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants. Teams are waiting this out, waiting on Rodgers.” So, on the one hand, according to new updates, the Giants are still waiting for the QB. On the other hand, Mike Tomlin’s team may have already made a plan.

According to Blitzburgh on X, “Pelissero believes the Steelers have bought themselves some time to wait on Aaron Rodgers with the Mason Rudolph signing.” The post further noted, “The Steelers, by virtue of signing Mason Rudolph, bought themselves some time here because now worst-case, if this doesn’t work out with Rodgers, you could roll with Mason Rudolph who, let’s be honest, over the last several years with all the quarterback changes since Ben Roethlisberger retired, probably the best stretch of football they’ve played as an offense was down the stretch in 2023 when Mason Rudolph took over.” Well, this is right. During Rudolph’s 4 years with the Steelers, they reached the playoffs thrice.

Mike Tomlin’s Steelers re-signed Rudolph after selecting him in a third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft for six seasons. During that tenure, he started 13 of 21 games. And the stats? Well, the QB completed 291 of 458 passes with 63.5 percent for 3,085 yards and 19 touchdowns. And now, this time, after Russell Wilson and Justin Field’s decision failure, they signed him on a two-year contract. So, according to Pelissero, signing Rudolph—especially on a two-year deal—is the main reason why the Steelers aren’t in a rush to decide on Aaron Rodgers.

So, Mike Tomlin and his team are on the safe side! If the deal doesn’t happen with the ex-Jets QB and 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers, Rudolph still remains their solid backup plan. But as we said, we cannot rule out Rodgers completely from the list. So, as the Steelers and Giants are still wondering if Rodgers’s move is realistic or not—the Vikings’s move might be the interesting thing for the QB as of now.

Does Aaron Rodgers want to hop to Minnesota?

According to a report from The Athletic, Aaron Rodgers wants to sign with the Vikings and hence, he is waiting for their decision. Minnesota has recently bid goodbye to Sam Darnold and now they are focusing on the future of JJ McCarthy. So, it’s even possible that they might not sign Rodgers, which eventually could lead him to retirement possibilities.

The entire decision is in the hands of the Vikings’ head coach, Kevin O’Connell. Ownership allows the football staff to run operations, and O’Connell has a strong track record with quarterbacks. But will he choose Rodgers, the proven veteran, or J.J. McCarthy, the young, untested QB?

It’s true that Rodgers clearly sees a Super Bowl opportunity in Minnesota. With elite weapons like Justin Jefferson and Aaron Jones, a reinforced offensive line, and a team built to win, the fit makes sense. So now, it’s up to the Vikings.
