Aaron Rodgers’ “arrival in 2023 was met with unbridled excitement and I will forever be grateful that he chose to join us to continue his hall of fame career.” New York Jets CEO Woody Johnson recalled how two years back he flew out to California to meet the quarterback and seal a deal with him.
The world was excited to see Rodgers in a new jersey, who signed a 3-year contract with the franchise. Even the quarterback was feeling “like waking up inside of a dream.” The fans & team hoped the QB would do some miracle in the first season. But that didn’t happen. His injury took all the credit. Then again, in season 2, nothing expected happened. In fact, 2024 came out worse than his Achilles season, leaving many frustrated and tired of this merger. For instance, there was a time when the owner wanted Rodgers to be benched. But now, they reportedly want him out entirely. So, what’s next for Aaron Rodgers? Well, national reporter Albert Breer revealed some interesting facts about the 41-year-old!
Breer, who appeared in The Herd with Colin Cowherd show, highlighted that Aaron Rodgers is somebody who isn’t ready to walk away just yet. Hence, “he will come back because going out the way that he went out with the Jets this year is worse than going out with the Achilles, right? Like going out with the team that’s playing out the strength and I do think he’s got something left.”

The reporter confirmed that Aaron Rodgers is aiming for not just one, but two solid seasons before retirement. Now, many people will wonder about his age as well as the last few years’s performances—which arguably suggests Rodgers isn’t the old version of himself. But as per Breer, people who have studied his game still see a top-level quarterback. His vision, decision-making and arm strength are all there. And with another year of recovery, he could be even better. Now the big question is: where will he play?
On which, Albert Breer pointed out, “The idea of playing in that system, for that coach, I think would appeal to any quarterback for the same reason it appealed to (Matthew) Stafford back in 2021. It would appeal to Aaron Rogers, the idea of going there. You got a good young base of talent you could build off of it. It’s got some of the things that Jets had when he went there.” So, as per the reporter, Rodgers will be eyeing for the two key needs in his new home, and that will be—stability, and a coach he respects.
Talking about the potential homes, the show guest also highlighted teams like the Rams, Pittsburgh, Giants, and Browns, for the QB. So, it remains to be seen where Aaron Rodgers will land. But two things are clear: one that he will play and two, he is coming up with his 2 needs. Until then, the Jets are waiting for the correct time to release him.
The Jets’ intentions for Aaron Rodgers are pretty clear now?
About two years ago, Aaron Rodgers came out of a darkness retreat to play a powerful next season. But a series of occurrences during his on-field life dashed all those hopes and wishes into ashes. Now the 2024 season has wrapped up with a disappointing 5 wins and 12 losses. And owner Woody Johnson isn’t likely taking any chances for the next season. Hence, the Jets released their intentions to cut ties with the QB on Thursday.

In a couple of Instagram posts, Jets’s new head coach Aaron Glenn and new general manager Darren Mougey said, “Last week we met with Aaron and shared that our intention was to move in a different direction at quarterback. It was important to have this discussion now to provide clarity and enable each of us the proper time to plan for our respective futures.” Despite his era falling flat with the team, New York still thanked him for everything he did inside the facility.
