This is going to be a clash of the giants. A matchup between the teams that have already been seeded at the number 1 position from their conferences. This game will be replayed in the playoffs, but before that the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens will have one more heated battle in the regular season. A face-off between two MVP hopefuls Brock Purdy and Lamar Jackson.
Lamar Jackson already has one MVP accolade to his name. He cliched the trophy in his second season for the Ravens in 2019. But this time around it is Purdy’s second season. The QB might be underpaid, but he is surely not undervalued.

Brock Purdy’s story is straight out of any Hollywood movie. He was the last to be drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, becoming that year’s ‘Mr. Irrelevant’. But he hit the ground running as soon as he arrived at the 49ers. Even as he is overtaking legends, and is on the path to take the MVP award, he is severely underpaid.
Out of the 60 players on the 49ers’ roster this year, Purdy is ranked 56th in terms of salary, with a mere renumeration of $934,000 per year. 49ers’ backup QB, Sam Darnold, is earning 5 times more than him. And this number gets even more ridiculous when compared to other QBs in the league.

Shockingly, Purdy is the least-paid QB in the entire NFL. But he is giving some of the most well-paid QBs a run for their money this season. However, amongst the top earners is someone who can clinch the MVP award away from Purdy. And it’s none other than Lamar Jackson with a new and well deserved $52 million per year contract.
Lamar Jackson can snatch away Purdy’s MVP dreams
Statistically Purdy is ahead of Jackson by every metric this season. And in touchdowns, there’s no competition between the pair (Purdy 29 & Jackson 17). Despite this Jackson has the power to shatter Purdy’s dreams this Christmas day.

When the Ravens will travel to San Francisco on 25th December, Jackson might put on a ferocious performance. The Ravens’ QB is a big game player, and can easily take over the game while making Purdy and the 49ers look ordinary.
