For many younger football fans, head coach Mike Tomlin is the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is the 16th season that HC Tomlin is with the Steelers. For more than one and a half decades, HC Tomlin has enjoyed success at the Acrisure Stadium. But now his former player, Ryan Clark, is calling on him to leave the job.

The Safety, Ryan Clark, was with Tomlin and the Steelers when they won the Super Bowl back in 2009. Even after retiring in 2014, RC has maintained a good relationship with his former HC. So it might come as a shock that he is asking Tomlin to quit the job with the Steelers. Why does RC think this?

HC Mike Tomlin has reformed the Steelers ever since he arrived there in 2006. Tomlin’s grit and personality, along with his free-thinking nature, made the Steelers not only a force to be reckoned with in the AFC North but delivered them the Super Bowl as well. However, this season’s roller-coaster performance by the squad has many questioning Tomlin. But RC is not one of them.

The 44-year-old former Safety finds a fault with the current team and not with the HC. “Coach Tomlin should now move on from Pittsburgh”, said RC on ESPN. And he believes that greener pastures are waiting for Tomlin, just not with the Steelers.

“Everyone should line up to hire him because the fricking man knows how to do it”, RC said to his co-hosts. Whether Tomlin will move on from the Steelers or not, only time will tell. But he would for sure want to finish the regular season on a high note.

One last hurrah for Tomlin

If it does turn out to be Tomlin’s last season with the Steelers, he would want to go to the playoffs. But that road is as good as closed for Tomlin and the team. Currently, they have a 6% chance to qualify for the playoffs, this will get doubled if they manage to beat their divisional rivals the Bengals this weekend.

Earlier in Week 12, the Steelers did manage to win the first leg of the game by 16-10. But with a record of 7-7, they have been highly inconsistent. Nevertheless, this old rivalry will be ignited soon, and Tomlin would want to have the last laugh.
