Aaron Rodgers and the Jets wrapped up their season on a bitter note. Nah, scratch that—they’ve been wrapping up their seasons this way for the last 14 years. In all those years, 5 head coaches couldn’t do what Rex Ryan managed to pull off—taking the team to the playoffs, back to back. And after firing Jeff Ulbrich, the Jets are on a hunt for a new head coach. So do the New Orleans Saints and the 3 other teams.
The Patriots have recently brought in Mike Vrabel and the Bears snagged Ben Johnson as their new head coach. Now the Jets and the Saints are among the 5 teams still hunting for their next HC. And the talk of the town is that the Saints are preparing for an in-person interview with the Lions‘ defensive coordinator, Aaron Glenn.
But here’s the kicker. The lead NFL insider, Jonathan Jones, came up with a startling revelation that might cheer up the Jets fans as well as their locker room. “Inclement weather has been in the forecast for New Orleans the last few days and now interviews are being postponed,” Johnson reported. “Though talks are always ongoing, the decision by the Saints to wait could wind up costing them an in-person audience with Aaron Glenn.”

Seems like the Jets finally got a chance to take off that too in unpleasant weather. Look, the Jets have reportedly interviewed different people for the vacant HC role. But here is the catch. Aaron Glenn previously worked with the Jets in 2012 as their personnel scout. And being one of the hottest contenders for the head coaching post, the New York team may want him to take the HC role in the following season. Especially after Ben Johnson declared that he had no interest in the Jets.
Now, with New Orleans’ weather possibly throwing a wrench in the Saints’ plans to interview Glenn, the Jets—led by Aaron Rodgers—are starting to feel like they might just catch a break. If that interview gets delayed, they’ve got a real shot at bringing Glenn in to turn things around for Gang Green. Could he be the one to fix what’s been broken for the Jets? Time will tell, but the hope is definitely there.
But what about the Saints? Because fans want to move on from Darren Rizzi and the Saints’ running back has some other thoughts.
The Saints: Another team on a head coach hunt
Dennis Allen came into the season with big expectations, and things were looking great after those first two wins. But, of course, that didn’t last long. The Saints then dropped seven straight games, and well, you know how that went. They parted ways with Allen, and Darren Rizzi stepped in as the interim head coach. But honestly, Rizzi didn’t change much, and the Saints ended up with a rough 5-12 record.
Now, fans are pretty much over the whole interim thing and are hoping for a fresh start next season. But hear this out: the running back Alvin Kamara, isn’t happy with the fans’ decision. He hoped on his official ‘X’ account and fired up on the fans. “Ion (I don’t) really speak too much football. Especially in the offseason,” he stated. “But it be funny hearing why y’all think a coach should get a job or not. But then again.. the last time some y’all played organized anything was last night on 2k. Can’t een (even) get ya best friend to pass you the ball at the park. Wife mad as hell you yelling on the game all night.”
See, the thing is, the Saints’ fans want a new head coach as the team is already interviewing some candidates, but Kamara has some other plans. According to him, “Aite (alright) my vote for head coach rhyme wit Fizzi…” That’s as clear as a sunny day that the running back wants Rizzi to continue head coaching the New Orleans team.
But for the time being, neither the Saints nor any rumor has any update on Rizzi’s future with the Saints. In fact, Mike McCarthy is being considered for the next head coaching role of the Saints. All in all, it’s a spectrum for the Saints and Aaron Rodgers’ Jets about who’s gonna be their new head coach.
