Has Broncos HC Sean Payton changed his attitude toward the media? Last season, Payton made waves for his outrageous behavior with reporters. However, this time, his relaxed demeanor during media meetings at OTAs and minicamps has been noted. It is none other than his team player, Jonas Griffith, who also brought his kindness in front of spectators. The Denver Broncos LB spilled the beans about his conduct with the players.

During “The Drive” podcast hosted by Phillip Lindsay and Zach Bye on June 25, Griffith shed light on Sean’s good-humored nature with players. When the host asked the question, “And now, Sean, this year, the second year, there seems to be a bit more of a lightness to him. Have you noticed that, personally, with Sean Payton?” Griffith promptly replied, “I mean, I think that there’s a difference in Sean Payton that the media gets first and the players get. I mean, he’s obviously been great.”

Apart from that, he also revealed that Payton was not grumpy towards the players last year, stating, “We talk all the time because he’s an Eastern Illinois guy and I’m an Indiana State guy. They are two big rivals and, you know, we talk every day, even last year we talked about it. I think, honestly, last year he was not grumpy towards maybe the players. You know, maybe it was his words to the media or whatever it may have been. I’m not really sure how that whole aspect went.”

A drastic change in Payton’s heated demeanor came after he felt guilty about the same. “There is probably [a notion] in the first year where you are pissing on all of the trees, and I’m probably guilty of that,” Payton remarked in June.

Earlier, the Denver HC lost patience after a huge loss, and he also made waves with his heated exchange with reporters.

Sean Payton embraces optimism

When his team Denver faced a 70-20 defeat against the Dolphins and was outscored by 50 points with a 0-3 loss during Sunday’s games this year, Sean’s frustrations were displayed in front of the media. Following the loss, HC reacted aggressively to a reporter during Sunday’s postgame press conference.

With all the sudden turns of events, he lost his temper when a reporter cited stats to explain the historically bad loss in Week 3. “I’m aware. What’s the question?” said Payton, when Fox Sports reporter, Henry McKenna asked the question. “What’s the question? I just finished telling you. Next question,” he further expressed his irritation.

Reflecting on the defeat, the head coach was evidently critical of his team’s effort, labeling it as “embarrassing” and “tough to watch.” Payton further added, “It’d be one thing for us to say, ‘hey, we’re going to get onto the next game,’ but we have to watch that tape. Tomorrow will be tough for a lot of players, tough for us too as coaches.”

However, now it seemed that he changed his attitude and moving forward with an optimistic mindset. As, Griffith also disclosed Payton’s reliance on the team this year, besides explaining the HC’s behavior towards players and media, “I mean, yeah, I think he’s very confident in the team this year. You know, we’re going to surprise a lot of people. He talks about it a lot to us, too. He’s like, hey, you know, I’m real comfortable with the guys this year, and we’re ready to go. We’ve got a lot of work to do this year, but we’re ready to go. Yeah, yeah, for sure,” the MVFC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence award-winning player further remarked. It seems that Sean Payton’s approach has made a swift turn, as his composed demeanor and optimistic attitude are captivating attention.
