The national TV hosts keep on fickling their NFL best teams’ choices. For sports analyst Colin Cowherd is nothing different. As the season has headed towards its Week 8, Cowherd, after choosing the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers in previous years, has voted this time for another NFC team.

Along with voting for his best team this season, the 59-year-old media personality shared his latest verdict on the Baltimore Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson. The 26-year-old QB led his team to a recent win against the Detroit Lions drubbing them with 38-6. Since then, Jackson’s name has been considered a top candidate for the NFL MVP this year, and amid this, Colin Cowherd too recently shared his opinion on him.

Analyst and media personality Colin Cowherd, recently on his podcast, shared his thoughts on the Ravens QB Lamar Jackson and his team. The 59-year-old praised Jackson highlighting that he thinks Jackson is now number 2 in the league “behind the Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, in terms of how do you prepare for a player.

Not only this, Cowherd made sure to substantiate his statements by saying “money changes people,” and what he loves about Jackson is “he got the bag, and he’s actually changed for the better.” Jackson this offseason inked his name in one of the highest paid quarterbacks of the NFL and signed a five-year, $260 million with the Ravens.

Furthermore, Cowherd also listed the Ravens as the best team in the NFL currently, attributing this status to the presence of Lamar Jackson, and their 5-2 record this season so far. But is Jackson really a top dog of the NFL MVP this time?

In his last matchup against the Lions, Lamar Jackson gave a flawless performance, leading his team to touchdowns and a dominant first half. The 26-year-old QB went 21 of 27 for 357 yards and 3 TDs. With his deep passes and near-perfect 155.8 passer rating, Jackson has jumped a few steps up in the MVP race. When considering his overall performances this season, he has thrown for 1,610 yards, and eight touchdowns.

Also on the list is Patrick Mahomes, who has led his team to a 6-1 record so far. In his last showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers, he threw for 424 yards and four touchdowns. Overall, in five years, Jackson on one hand has 4,437 rushing yards; 12,209 passing yards; and 125 TDs, while on the other, Mahomes in his six years has 1,547 rushing yards; 24,241 passing yards; and 204 combined TDs.

Hence, given some more years to these quarterbacks, it’s true that both will emerge as the best in the league. And who knows, if Jackson crosses 10,000 more yards and 100 touchdowns this season, he will get closer to Mahomes & can become the next GOAT?
