When asked why did he bench Drake Maye after one drive and kept Jahlani Tavai out of the first quarter, Mayo kept it vague with this response: “coaches’ decision.” 

Obviously, that’s your call. But the question was ‘WHY was it your call?’ and not ‘Who’s call was it?’ That’s not the Patriots way—or at least, not the one any of could recall it to be. New England’s culture isn’t built on vague answers and inconsistent decisions. And Krafts knew it, as the statement read: “We have tremendous fans who expect and deserve a better product than we have given in recent years. I apologize for that.”

So, that’s the cue for the next-man mentality to be switched on. There are many names in the market right now. But one is standing out!

Can Mike Vrabel bring the cultural change that Jerod Mayo failed to bring?
