It’s obvious that since Mahomes’ 2017 NFL draft, and his impressive rise on the gridiron, everyone in the American-household knows his name now. However, how glittery it seems outwardly, from inside the name and fame has its own disadvantages, which momma Randi Mahomes revealed recently.

Patrick Mahomes’ mom wants her normal life back!

In an episode of the Fan Favorite with Kent Hance from November 1, 2021, the host was joined by Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi Mahomes. The mother of three talked about the ups and downs of her family life, expressing her pain and frustration. She described the challenges of being in public as a family due to their fame. Randi mentioned being advised not to interact with people to maintain privacy but find it difficult because they enjoy engaging with others. Patrick’s mother also expressed a longing for privacy and normal family time, which she finds it hard to achieve, even during the Christmas, due to their recognition.

In the podcast interview, Randi explained, “We actually get to be in public occasionally together as a family. I’ve been told to like don’t look anyone in the eyes, just go to your seat at the table and sit down, don’t look around. Well, I like to talk…. I like to shake someone’s hand….sometimes it’s just like we just want to eat dinner together and be normal.” She further added, “I don’t take it for granted, but sometimes I want to take my family for granted just personally and I guess that you have to. You do miss that privacy sometime.”

Unable to recall her last family dining, disappointed Randi mentioned that she regrets working two jobs for about ten years, missing out on her children’s activities. She also talked about the difficulty of balancing work and parenting as a single mom. Momma Mahomes wished she had worked less to spend more time with her kids.

Therefore, concluding her statements, she advised other single parents not to put their work first, instead to cherish the time with their children. Although Randi couldn’t spend much time with her kids, one thing is evident that she has helped skyrocket Patrick’s career in the league, by sacrificing a lot.

Randi Mahomes begged Patrick Mahomes to not leave the University?

Randi Mahomes runs a clothing business called ‘The QB producer’. After separating from Patrick Mahomes Sr. seventeen years ago, she stood strong for her three children, supporting them in their respective careers. She earlier explained that she had to work nights and weekends to make money for her children’s dreams. Moreover, she was the one who pressed Mahomes to choose NFL over MLB. Furthermore, two years back, Texas Tech was inducting Patrick Mahomes into the “Ring of Honor.” This was extra special for Randi Mahomes, as she revealed that she reportedly “begged” the quarterback to pursue his further studies.

There was a time when Patrick Mahomes wanted to quit his education and pursue his NFL career. However, Randi stopped him from doing so. She expressed, “Going back to the stadium there, it’s really going to mean a lot. I’ve joked with Patrick, when he left college early, I begged him to stay. I was the one begging him to stay because, you know, being a grown-up isn’t as always fun as it looks when you’re that age.”

The Chiefs QB joined Texas Tech in 2014 but left a year early in 2017 to join the NFL draft that year. And the rest is history.
