Colossians 3:20: “Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.” Randi Mahomes referenced this verse in January while announcing that her father was in hospice. His health had been deteriorating since September 2024 after he was hospitalized for an undisclosed reason. “Prayer warriors please pray for my daddy,” Randi pleaded with her followers. But the 78-year-old Larry ‘Randy’ Martin passed away on February 12, just days after Patrick Mahomes lost the Super Bowl.

“Hard to find the words of holding my fathers hand as he goes to Heaven. I know he’s in a better place. I love you daddy. Well done, good and faithful servant! Matthew 25:23,” Randi wrote with a heavy heart. Martin had dedicated his life to teaching, counseling, and school administration. He spent his career working in schools in Troup, Maydelle, Palestine, LaPoynor, and Whitehouse.

He aimed to bring about changes; Especially when he worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the Gatesville Boys School (he was a substance abuse counselor). Hence, his obituary read: “He touched the lives of everyone around him with inquisitive spirit, wisdom, and love of music. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.”

The funeral service was held on Feb. 17 and Patrick, Jackson and other grandchildren served as pallbearers. However, his death was the toughest on his daughter, Randi. But amid the mourning, she found a reason to smile: Her granddaughter, Sterling Skye, was the reason. She celebrated her fourth birthday on Feb. 20 and from pictures shared on Instagram stories, Randi Mahomes was seen smiling and joining in on the celebration.

While the celebrations were ongoing, the Mahomes had a message/warning for the guests. Brittany Mahomes took to Instagram stories to share some adorable pictures of the event, and in one of Sterling’s pictures, fans noticed a warning sign that the Mahomes family had placed for the guests: “Please look after your belongings, we are not responsible for lost or stolen items.”

A fair warning, right?

Randi Mahomes is probably the Chief’s biggest supporter and can be seen supporting her son and his teammates on every occasion. The biggest thing, though, was her support for Patrick Mahomes and Co. after their biggest loss; Especially for the Chief’s QB, the loss was just tough, as his performance in the final was, to put it simply, poor.

And well, this is exactly when you need the support of your loved ones, so that’s what Mama Mahomes did.

She shared a message for Mahomes and the team: “Not the ending we wanted, but so incredibly proud of Patrick and this team. No matter what, I’ll always be your biggest cheerleader son. Thank you, Chiefs Kingdom, for the love, support, and riding with us every step of the way.”

It’s not just the eldest son who receives the support of Mama Mahomes, Randi is there for all her children equally. She was amongst the first to congratulate her daughter, Mia Randall, as she led her team to a TAPSAC championship: “Mia’s team won the tournament today!! Proud Mama.”

Mama Mahomes was also the pillar of support for her son Jackson after several charges against him surfaced. Randi had his back during those tough times and when it was over, she shared in 2024: “Jackson’s been through the wringer, unfortunately. But the truth finally came out.”

Randi Mahomes is clearly the glue that holds the family together and is the backbone of her children, and in this tough time, it is great to see her family supporting her. Indeed, words or celebrations will not be enough to overcome the loss of a loved one. But Randy Martin’s love and legacy will live on through all the achievements of the Mahomes family, from Patrick Mahomes’ victories to every step little Sterling takes.
