It’s time! The red carpet was rolled out as the premiere for FX’s ‘Grotesquerie’ was held in Lower Manhattan. Now fans will finally get to see Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce make his acting debut. Unfortunately, the tight end was busy and could not make it to the premiere at Spring Studios on Monday, Sept. 23.

Well, fret not, because Mama Kelce was there. She took it upon herself to show up for the premier and show support to her superstar son. She didn’t just show up; she showed up in style to walk the red carpet and even took to Instagram to show off her fit.

She rocked a monotone burgundy outfit: Faux leather pants, a sequin top, and a bomber jacket- all in the same shade. “Premiere of @grotesqueriefx,” her IG story mentioned. Donna Kelce, 71, gave the credit where it was due and gave a shout-out to Kim Gravel, who dressed her up for the occasion. “Jacket, top, and pants designed by fellow Q50 Ambassador @kimgravel.” But why was Travis Kelce absent?

He is busy with the regular season games and fortunately for him, the Kansas City Chiefs are doing well as they had a 3-0 start to their season. However, Travis Kelce was in Atlanta in week 3, so that’s the first reason why he might have missed out. The other reason? Well, he isn’t his usual self this season. The 3x Super Bowl-winning TE only has 8 receptions and 69 yards to show for in a matter of 3 games. He hasn’t scored a touchdown yet either. Naturally, fans might be a bit disappointed if they see Travis Kelce on a red carpet when his team is just getting by and winning games somehow.

After the last game against the Falcons, Mahomes took the team’s underwhelming offensive performance onto himself. But it’s safe to say that no one besides Rashee Rice and Patrick Mahomes is carrying the team right now. The Chiefs are playing the Chargers next.

Regardless, it looks like Donna Kelce took a page from Travis Kelce’s fashion guide as her younger son has shown us several monotone fashion looks, be it his casual and relaxed wear or his fancy costumes. And now, he has shifted his attention towards acting.

So, what’s the deal with the TV show? Well, detective Lois Tryon, played by Niecy Nash-Betts witnesses a series of heinous crimes that feel eerily personal. Lois is battling with her own demons and has a straining relationship with her daughter Raven Goodwin. With no luck investigating the crimes, she starts to work with Sister Megan, who is a nun and a journalist.

According to the synopsis: “Sister Megan, with her own difficult past, has seen the worst of humanity, yet she still believes in its capacity for good. Lois, on the other hand, fears the world is succumbing to evil. As Lois and Sister Megan string together clues, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers.” What character will Travis Kelce be seen playing?

Unfortunately, details about his role are not available and this mystery only makes his acting debut more interesting. While we don’t know much about Travis Kelce’s role, the Pilot episode is just a few blinks away from airing on TV. Nicholas Alexander Chavez, who plays Nurse Redd, had some thoughts about Kelce’s role.

“He has such an exciting character in this show, and I think that people should be looking forward to seeing Travis shine because guy’s a star,” he teased. Well, fans won’t have to wait too long as the 10-episode series will be released on September 25 on FX and later Hulu. Now, all of this brings up one question.

How did Travis Kelce end up with an action role?

As fans are excited to see Kelce act in Ryan Murphy’s new series ‘Grotesquerie’, Murphy explained how the NFL player came on board.

“He said he was interested in getting into acting. It ended with me saying, ‘Okay, well, I’ll keep you in mind, and maybe we’ll come up with something.’ And he said, ‘No, I want to do it now. I have three months now, and I really would love to have anything,'” Murphy revealed.

The Chiefs player didn’t want his time off to go to waste and Murphy stepped up to help the TE. “I directed the first episode he did with Niecy [Nash-Betts]. Niecy and I just instantly loved him and took him by the hand and let him know that he would not, could not fail,” Murphy said.

Travis Kelce also worked with an acting coach for months and showed up completely prepared. That’s something Murphy admires about him- his professionalism.

“He kept saying to me, ‘I’m real coachable. Coach me, coach me.’ So I did, and he ended up being a delight, and I would love to continue working with him on this and other things.” Well, it sounds like Kelce really impressed people, and who knows, we might get to see more projects involving Travis Kelce in the future.

However, even the NFL star has had some great things to say about Murphy. On the May 15 episode of his New Heights podcast, Kelce shared his admiration for Ryan Murphy’s talents.
