Brock Purdy is now focused on the Super Bowl! However, to reach there, the San Francisco 49ers “system QB” has to cross one barrier. The Niners will host the Detroit Lions on Sunday, and Purdy aims to defeat them to earn the NFC Championship title.
In December last year, ahead of their matchup in Week 16, Baltimore Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton called Purdy a “system QB,” praising his arm throws and decisions. However, there is another thing that Purdy should be commended for. This was recently revealed when the quarterback appeared in a pregame presser to define his ultimate goal.

In a pregame press conference, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy appeared before the media to talk about his upcoming Lions’ game, his preparations, and the “ultimate goal.” There is no doubt how Purdy has enhanced his legacy and his team’s position ever since he joined the team in 2022. His efforts and way of thinking have helped him reach the glory and hype he has been gaining this season. But Purdy isn’t interested in all such stuff.
During the Friday presser, Purdy was asked about his thoughts on all the hype and glory he has been getting this season due to his two NFC Championship appearances and this year’s nomination in the MVP race. The 24-year-old quarterback said, “I’ve just been taking it one day at a time. Since last year, once I stepped into the role, for me it’s never been about all the hype and the glory and all that kind of stuff. It’s been about how can I help this team win.” Purdy further acknowledged that he has a fantastic squad that has helped him reach this stage and improve daily.
Talking about his current goal, he said, “Here we are second year in the row in the NFC Championship, very thankful for it, but obviously we have a bigger goal in mind, and we have to handle business this Sunday, so that’s where my mind is.”

The Lions stunned the entire NFL world with their back-to-back regular season wins. With 12 wins, they won the NFC North division after a historic 30-year gap, claiming the franchise’s first NFC North title. On the other hand, the 49ers, led by Brock Purdy, have clinched the NFC West championship for the second time in a row. As both teams are meeting against each other on Sunday, all eyes are now set on who will win the entire NFC division.
After this win, the winner will earn a place in Super Bowl LVIII. As for Purdy, he is aiming at his current goal to win the NFC; the Lions’ QB Jared Goff, on the other hand, aims to realize his childhood dream by winning the Vince Lombardi Trophy on February 11. And if he does so, he will create another history, as Detroit is among the four teams (Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, and Jacksonville Jaguars) who have never played in the Super Bowl since it began in 1966. However, for the 49ers, this will be their third appearance this century.
