There has been a trend in the sports world to harshly critique any star rookie entering the pro leagues. With that trend, many are eagerly waiting for Caleb Williams to hit the field to expose him to the harsh realities of the gridiron. And it looks like Jeffery Simmons, the defensive tackle for the Tennessee Titans, is planning to give the rookie quarterback a welcome that won’t be warm.

While physical aggression toward Williams is expected on the field, Simmons aims to defeat him mentally as well. With his trash-talking skills sharpened Simmons is ready for their first encounter, which will be the season opener for the Chicago Bears. The Pro Bowler discussed the benefits of trash-talking during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show.”

Jeffery Simmons might make it ugly for Caleb Williams

Caleb Williams is not too far away from getting the Caitlyn Clark treatment. Clark quickly became a sensation in the NCAA but received harsh treatment when she arrived in the WNBA. Curse words and flagrant fouls became the norm for Caitlyn Clark following her WNBA debut.

There is a possibility that the next generation of talent out of USC will face the same fate. That’s what Jeffery Simmons is going to take care of. Also, the Chicago Bears-Tennessee Titans is a season opener, but all eyes are on Williams, and the Titans DT wants to change that.

Eisen was curious about Simmons’ trash-talking plans and how he planned to turn attention away from Williams. Simmons will make it ugly! He confessed to trash-talking about players’ families but is focused on mentally destroying his opposition and catching them off guard.

“I’m not going to say I haven’t ever said nothing like family wise, but I’m also like, I want to find something that I know like, you know when you say something and you hear guys like, or you see guys like look at me kind of weird. So, that’s when I know I got them,” said the Titans DT. He further revealed his plans saying, I’m trying to defeat you [opposition]. So, when I say something to you, I want you to be like [hurt].”

Simmons is 6-feet-3 and over 300 pounds, of course, anyone would be on amber alert when they see him coming on to them. Simmons missed the last couple of games due to a Grade 1 knee strain on December 3 last year against the Colts in Week 13. He missed the last 5 games, but before leaving, he amassed 44 total tackles (30 solo), 5.5 sacks, and 1 forced fumble. He’s back in better shape and ready to open against Caleb Williams in Chicago.

Coming back to the Windy City team, it isn’t like Caleb Williams isn’t familiar with trash talk and trolling. The QBs off-field antics have gotten him plenty of attention, but not in a good way. His alternative fashion sense has garnered some haters. However, Williams knows how to deal with it and address those who want to back him in a corner.

Fans didn’t like Williams’ penchant for pink

The internet is a crude, vast place, and keyboard warriors are in plenty. The trolls didn’t hold back on the quarterback when a video of him surfaced where he was seen wearing pink nail paint, had a pink phone, and even sported a pink wallet. But it didn’t stop there, because haters also trolled him for supposedly using pink lip gloss. However, Williams’ ingenuity got the best of online warriors.

In a quirky reply to all the negativity, Caleb Williams took to social media and shared a video showing his unpainted nails, but he did agree that his lips were pink. “Your girl loves ’em,” said the QB. But it doesn’t come out of nowhere. Williams has a knack for experimenting with new things, but more so, his painted nails were a tribute to his mother, who’s been a nail technician her entire life.

“It started, I would say, three years ago,” Williams told USC legend Matt Leinart in an interview. “It was my last year of high school. My mom does nails. Let’s just start it off there. She’s done it my whole life. It’s just kind of always been around me. Nobody else does it. I just kind of like to do new things.” Visiting a nail salon also works like a mental retreat for the QB.

“It’s one thing where you go to a nail salon, and it’s peaceful,” Williams explained. “It’s something not many people are doing. I just sit down and throw on my [headphones]. I turn on a movie, I sit down and I’m chillin’, not bothered by anything other than what I decide to be bothered by.”

But here Caleb Williams is again, preparing to debut in a league that is brutal, and unforgiving, a league where trash talk is the least of his concerns. Can the Tennessee Titans steal the spotlight from Caleb Williams at Soldier Field?
