Just after the last game of the season, Robert Kraft made a statement, informing everyone that Jerod Mayo would not be continuing as head coach in 2025. Since then, the question that has been running through all Patriots fans’ minds is Who Now? The New England Patriots ended their season 4-13 and won just one (the last game of the season) after 6 consecutive losses. After such a dismal performance, everyone expected some changes to happen and Mayo’s firing was just that.

Since the former Patriot linebacker’s sacking, everyone has shared their 2 cents on who should Kraft look towards for the future. Several names have been in the conversation about being the Patriots’ next head coach, but the one that has made the most noise is Mike Vrabel. And it makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?

On the UNSPORTSMANLIKE Radio, Super Bowl champion Chris Canty shared his thoughts on the same. When asked about the type of coach the Patriots need, Canty also went the Vrabel route and quickly responded with ” I feel like they are going to hire Mike Vrabel”. Discussing further, he goes on to say how “Mike Vrabel is the Patriots way,” and how he loves the idea of the former Patriots star moving back to Foxborough. Canty, like many others, believes Vrabel to be the right person to bring success to the Pats and makes valid points about why he should be brought in.

Vrabel’s accomplishments speak for themselves, a legit Patriots legend, Vrabel has also proved his mettle as a coach, being named the NFL Coach of the Year in 2021. The Patriots need stability going forward and who better than a homegrown legend to provide that?

The question though: would hiring Vrabel be enough? Not according to Canty. The former Ravens man believes that it is important for the Patriots to find a great Offensive Coordinator if they go the Vrabel way. “They better nail the offensive coordinator hire because that’s going to be important, in terms of being able to get Drake Maye from year 1 to year 2.”

Canty makes a valid point about hiring an Offensive Coordinator. Maye is surely going to be a key player for the Pats and for him to do well next season, they need to get someone great for the role. A name that has popped up is that of Josh McDaniels. The former Raiders’ head coach has previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Patriots for 14 non-consecutive seasons. He is someone who has that experience and could very well be the perfect person to compliment Vrabel.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Mike Vrabel the savior the Patriots need, or just another name in the coaching carousel?

Have an interesting take?

Will Mike Vrabel join the New England Patriots?

It just fits. The Patriots are actively looking for a head coach to join, and who better than the player who won 3 Super Bowls with them in 4 years? According to several insiders, even Vrabel seems interested in the job. Jeff Howe of The Athletic took to X yesterday to share some news on the same and mentioned how Vrabel has been interested in the role.

Vrabel joining the Patriots would be great for both parties. A familiar face coming back will surely boost the 6 time Super Bowl champions’ chances of success and will, more importantly, bring stability to a team that at times looked clueless this season. Patriots insider Tom E. Curran is another who believes Vrabel is the No. 1 candidate for the Patriots job and shared the same on X.

Rob Gronkowski, who himself is a Super Bowl champion with the Patriots, also believes that Vrabel will return to his former club. Sunday night in an interview with Fox, Gronkowski mentioned how he thinks Kraft is “probably hoping to get” Vrabel.

Kraft recently talked about how they are going about their search for the new HC. When asked about Vrabel though, the Patriots boss gave a non-committal answer.

Mayo’s time with the Pats was far from ideal. His inability to take on the responsibility for the team’s failure was a big reason for his sacking. Add to that how he handled young Maye in his first season, and the firing was coming sooner rather than later. In contrast, we saw how Vrabel dealt with the players during his time with the Titans and how he took command of the team. It seems like a no-brainer for the Patriots to get Vrabel in.

The Patriots fired one of the greatest coaches of this century and then brought in Jerod Mayo, only to let him go after just one season. The signs clearly show something is not going well with the Patriots. Kraft needs to look at someone who brings a sense of calm and a winning mentality back into the team. Vrabel seems like that person who will bring the Belichick mentality and hopefully victory back to Gillette stadium.
