Tom Brady isn’t someone you would relate to missing his targets, but this isn’t about his gridiron duties we are talking about. Brady isn’t TB12 anymore. He is now way above that. These days, his job isn’t just calling plays as a Fox broadcaster. As a minority owner of the Raiders, the former 7-time Super Bowl Champion is actively pursuing a new head coach for his team. And let’s just say it’s not that easy, even if you are the GOAT.

Brady was all too familiar with his former teammate Mike Vrabel’s availability. They were quite the force during the Bill Belichick era, winning three Super Bowls together. But that bond of reuniting with Brady wasn’t greater than moving back to New England for Vrabel. As per NFL insider Tom Pelissero, “Raiders never requested an interview or tried to bring Mike Vrabel in because Vrabel essentially told Tom Brady. I’m going to end up going to New England.”

And you know what? Vrabel got his wish as Robert Kraft chose him to replace one-and-done Jerod Mayo. So when the moment came for him to address whether those reports by Pelissero were true. You could say Vrabel gave a cryptic response on The Greg Hill Show, “Well, I don’t know if that was the case. Tom and I have had many discussions. We’re friends, We’re teammates. We continue to talk throughout my career coaching.” Judging by his words, the new Patriots’ head coach neither completely disagreed having talks with Brady nor completely agreed.

Like there wasn’t even the slightest of doubts, he would pass on the opportunity to coach his former team. At his introductory press conference, Vrabel spoke with pride about his return to New England, “This is a special place with great leadership, great fans, great direction and great coaching. It’s not like this everywhere.” While Vrabel looks set to start working as the Patriots boss, Tom Brady’s search for a new head coach continues.

Is Brady's ownership stint off to a rocky start with Vrabel choosing New England over Vegas?

Have an interesting take?

You know, Brady has already started calling shots despite being a minority owner. As per The Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Raiders owner Mark Davis had reservations about sacking his head coach and general manager. However, it was Brady who pushed him to cut Antonio Pierce and Tom Telesco after their 4-13 season. He wanted a complete reset of the Raiders culture with a new GM and a head coach. See when you are under Brady’s wings. Mediocrity isn’t an option, and that message has been sent with his ruthless cleanup in Sin City.

No matter what percentage of ownership Brady has, it’s clear that ‘This is Tom’s show now.’ So, as the leader of the pack, Brady needs to deliver a head coach who can take his Raiders forward. Vrabel is already out of the picture. But Vegas has completed the interviews of the Chiefs’ defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, Lions DC Aaron Glenn, and their OC Ben Johnson. They have also shown clear interest in hiring former Seahawks Super Bowl-winning head coach Pete Carroll.

However, for now, there still hasn’t been a breakthrough in negotiations with either of their targets. This means the search goes on for Brady and his newfound abilities. His final decision will define whether Brady did deliver as an owner or still has a lot to learn in the role.
