There will be a lot of mess to clean up after what Jerod Mayo left behind in Patriots. Seems like Mike Vrabel took the task and, who knows, he might be able to bring the team back to its feet. A former Patriots LB and 3 time Super Bowl champion, Vrabel played eight seasons with the team. He earned Pro Bowl and All-pro honors in ‘07. His coaching success with the Titans, where he posted a 54-45 record and led the team to 2 AFC South titles and 3 straight playoff appearances, proves his excellence as a coach. With the NFL coach of the year (2021) by their side, the Patriots have a really good chance to restore their glory.
Now that Mike Vrabel is in the building as the new coach, who will join as the offensive coordinator? Ross Tucker recently pointed out this situation during his podcast. “I don’t think anybody’s going to hire Josh McDaniels a third time to be a head coach. So that would be the perfect OC hire for Vrabel.” With Josh’s previous experience in New England and his success as an OC, the reunion of this duo could be a new ray of hope for the Patriots fans.

Josh earned all the praises that he’s receiving. The Patriots under his guidance were ranked sixth in the NFL, averaging 27.6 points per game. Because of him, Mac Jones thrived as a rookie in 2021. The man literally has 6 super Bowl titles with the Pats. Ever since he left for the Raiders in 2022, the team’s offense has struggled, and went to the bottom of the league in scoring. His proven track record with Brady and Jones makes him a strong candidate to reignite the Patriots’ offense.
A young QB like Drake Maye is in need of seasoned guidance. Josh’s return can help sharpen a potentially powerful tool. This reunion of Vrabel and McDaniels, who shared eight seasons together in Foxborough, could combine defensive grit with offensive innovation, providing the Patriots with a much-needed reset.
Why Gronk gave a thumbs up to Mike Vrabel and Josh reunion
Both Vrabel and Josh have received the green light from Pats’ legend Rob Gronkowski. He recently shared his thoughts on FOX Sports. Rob Praised the new head coach’s leadership by saying, “This guy is gonna keep everyone accountable. From the coaching staff to the players, and he’s gonna keep himself accountable. Even the front office.”
As for McDaniels, Rob believes Vrabel should waste no time bringing him back to the team. “If I’m Mike Vrabel, the first thing I would do is call up Josh McDaniels. A familiar name to Patriots fans, and hire him as the offensive coordinator as soon as possible.”

Rob is backing up the duo as he has firsthand seen the impact both men had during their time with the Pats. His confidence in their ability to turn things around only strengthens the narrative. Gronk’s praise for Vrabel’s leadership style, especially his focus on accountability, aligns perfectly with Patriots right now. Meanwhile, McDaniels’ proven ability to work with QBs makes him the ideal choice for the offense. If Vrabel and Josh reunite in Foxborough, it could indeed be the start to a new chapter.
