When you’re in a big league like the NFL, you can’t escape the comparisons people will draw. Everyone seems to have an opinion on a player’s potential, and it can get pretty frustrating sometimes. The media often asks coaches, players, fans, and analysts for their take on players and their performances. Recently, reporters asked Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin about comparisons between Jayden Daniels and Lamar Jackson. And it seems like he wasn’t having any of it.

Acknowledging the Ravens QB’s athleticism, speed, agility, and playmaking, he said, “Man, be real slow comparing people to Lamar Jackson. That’s a multi-time MVP. That’s Mr. Jackson. We’ll see Mr. Jackson in a few days.” There’s no doubt Jayden Daniels is a player of caliber. He has the potential we saw glimpses of it in the last few Commanders games. But let’s be real. Comparisons come from performance, not just potential.

Interestingly, the Steelers won their last game, making it their fourth straight win. Mike’s squad is on a roll, sitting at the top of the AFC North with a 7-2 record. They’re looking like strong playoff contenders. Post-game, the media asked Tomlin about parallels between Jayden Daniels and Lamar Jackson. The question was asked regarding Daniels mirroring Jackson’s athletic style. The HC didn’t take a second to shut down these comparisons.

After the Ravens started the season with two straight losses, Lamar took a lot of heat for his performance in those key games. But the 27-year-old did not lose his morale. He bounced back like a fighter and silenced all the critics with his performance. As of Week 10, Lamar has thrown for 2,669 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just two interceptions. The QB gave the Ravens the much-needed boost when it was needed. They are currently one spot behind the Steelers in the AFC North with a record of 7-3.

On the flip side, Jayden Daniels has been showing promise but is still dealing with the usual NFL challenges. He made a huge splash with his Hail Mary against the Bears in Week 8, grabbing plenty of attention with that clutch play. The 23-year-old QB still has a lot to learn. Moving on, Mike Tomlin also talked about his team getting ready to face Lamar and the squad in their next game.

Lamar Jackson vs The Steelers

What’s your perspective on:

Can Jayden Daniels ever match the MVP caliber of Lamar Jackson, or is it just wishful thinking?

Have an interesting take?

The divisional foes, the Ravens and Steelers, will face off against each other this coming Sunday. With Lamar Jackson playing the way he is right now, it’s gonna be tough for the Steelers to stop him. Lamar is going to want this win for his team, making sure they get into the playoffs. And the way the Steelers won their last game against the Commanders by a point reinforced their position in the division.

The Ravens are feeling the pressure with some key players dealing with injuries. Kyle Hamilton, their safety suffered an ankle injury during the last game against the Bengals. Luckily, it’s not too serious, just an ankle sprain. However, his return for the next game against the Steelers is still questionable. TE Isaiah Likely, who made the offense strong, is likely out after suffering a hamstring injury. Rookie RB Rasheen Ali was also out for the last game against the Bengals, and there is no official update about his return. CB Jalyn Armour-Davis is in a similar situation.

On the Steelers’ side, linebacker Nick Herbig did not play in the last game, but reports suggest that he will most likely return for the game against the Ravens. Donte Jackson also missed the last game because of a hamstring injury, and Alex Highsmith picked up an injury during the game against the Commanders. Without Alex and Donte, the defense might struggle a bit. We can’t say who will win the upcoming game, considering how quickly things can flip in the final minute these days. It’s anyone’s guess.

But it’s gonna be interesting to see the top two teams in the division go head-to-head.
