TJ Watt has been the face of the Steelers’ defense for a while now. He’s the guy you think of when you picture a pass rusher—fast, relentless, and always in the backfield. But what if that might be changing? With only one year left on his contract, things could get a little tricky for Watt and the Steelers. Could they really let their star player go? It’s a question Mike Tomlin might have to answer soon.

It’s not something that has emerged in the last few days. Back on January 15, TJ’s contract came up for discussion on “The Pat McAfee Show.” To our delight, JJ Watt, TJ’s brother and a legend on the defense in his right, was in attendance. When McAfee brought up the fact that TJ would go into a contract year in 2025. “There’s only one (year) left, so he’ll be a free agent after this season. … I mean, you ever go into the last year of a contract?” Watt told McAfee. “I don’t know many people who go into a last year of a contract like that.” Those remarks died down amid all the playoff narratives. Now, the second week into the off-season, there are more angles.

On the Up & Adams Show, Benjamin Solak threw out a little curveball, saying the Steelers need to take a hard look at TJ Watt’s situation. “If they didn’t want to extend him, other teams would be willing to,” he pointed out. Watt’s been huge for Pittsburgh, but with a hefty price tag and a season that wasn’t quite as dominant as his usual self, the team might have some tough choices to make. Solak’s take? They shouldn’t wait around too long to figure it out.

TJ Watt’s 2024 season still had some solid stats—40 solo tackles, 21 assists, and 11.5 sacks. But, honestly, it wasn’t as explosive as fans are used to. His usual speed off the ball seemed slower, and the usual dominance wasn’t always there. He did force six fumbles, though, and you can’t forget about his playmaking ability. But even with the dip in numbers, Watt still hit a huge milestone: 100 career sacks. Not bad, right?

Despite some bumps in the road, Watt’s still a key player for the Steelers, and you can see why they’d be reluctant to let him go. But after a tough playoff exit and with his contract winding down, the Steelers have some big decisions ahead. Will Watt stick around, or will another team get a shot at him? That’s the big question.

Will the Steelers really let TJ Watt walk, or is he too valuable to lose?

Trevor Lawrence clears air on Steelers trade talk: I’m happy in…

NFL rumors are always wild, but this one had Trevor Lawrence cracking up. Recently, reports started flying that the Steelers were eyeing the Jaguars$275 million QB. But Lawrence isn’t having any of it. During an appearance on the Up & Adams Show, he set the record straight: “I’m not going anywhere, especially not to Pittsburgh.”

When Kay Adams brought up the whole “Steelers wanting Lawrence” thing, Trevor couldn’t help but laugh. He said his agent texted him about the rumors, but Lawrence wasn’t even fazed. “I don’t think there’s anything to it,” he said, making it clear that there was no truth behind the trade chatter. Plus, his contract doesn’t even allow him to be traded without his consent, so Lawrence’s heart wasn’t exactly racing over the reports.

As much as Lawrence respects Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, he made it clear where his heart is: Jacksonville.”I’m happy here in Jacksonville,” he said. “We want to win a Super Bowl here, and I think we can do that.” Trevor’s all in on the Jaguars and feels like they’re building something special. He’s determined to be the guy that leads them to the top, and he’s sticking around to make it happen.

When asked about Pittsburgh’s interest in him, Lawrence didn’t even know what to say. “I have no idea,” he admitted. “We weren’t involved in conversations about that.” But at the end of the day, it’s clear that Lawrence is locked in with the Jags, and Pittsburgh will have to look elsewhere for their QB. Trevor’s got his eyes on the future in Jacksonville, and he’s not going anywhere.
