Can Russell Wilson rise to the occasion, or will the Steelers regret not having Fields?

Just when you thought the QB drama was sizzling, Mike Tomlin drops a bombshell. He’s about to settle on one name, folks!

In a hot take straight from the FOX Sports NFL camp, Jay Blazer relayed some juicy deets after having chatted with HC Tomlin. The scoop? Justin Fields has reportedly tweaked his hamstring.

Now, he’s sidelined and paving the way for Russell Wilson to take center stage. “Just got off the phone with Mike Tomlin. He said Justin Fields actually tweaked his hamstring. Don’t think he’ll be able to go, not sure yet. So, it’s gonna be all Russell Wilson, but this is the kinda game where they were hoping to use the two-headed quarterback, but will not be able to do that because of Fields’ hamstring,” the tweet read.

Pittsburgh’s sitting at 5-2, fresh off a 37-15 smackdown of the Jets. Having unleashed a 24-0 blitz in the second half, they trailed at halftime. Oof.

Wilson was impressive: 16 completions on 29 attempts for 264 yards and two TDs. “He was unshaken and unmoved by the lack of fluidity in his start,” Tomlin praised. And who can blame him? Russ’ performance was indeed phenomenal.

Now as the Steelers face the Giants (still reeling from a 28-3 loss to Philly), the big question lingers: can QB Wilson keep the momentum rolling? Before Sunday’s showdown, fans were divided. Some clamored for Fields, who led the team to a 4-2 start, but Russ’ late-game fireworks won over the Heinz Field crowd.

Tomlin hinted that the 35-year-old would be taking first-team reps this week. “He’s scheduled to take first-team reps tomorrow, and we’ll see where the week leads us,” he said, leaving us on the edge of their seats.

Joining The Rich Eisen Show, Wilson didn’t hold back in gushing over HC Mike Tomlin. “Every day Coach Tomlin comes in, he gives his monologue speech… this guy is a tremendous motivator!” the nine-time Pro Bowler alluded. He opened up about the coach’s ability to “paint a picture” for the team, making the game day feel like a blockbuster film premiere.

Tomlin, the longest-tenured HC in the NFL, boasts a dazzling resume of zero losing seasons. His talent for rallying the troops is legit—and it’s clear Wilson’s feeling the Tomlin effect.
