Steelers Nation, your head coach, Mike Tomlin, isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. But let’s just say there will soon be some big changes coming before next season. Yeah, that’s right. Tomlin’s failure to deliver postseason success yet again in his last eight seasons has prompted the 18th-year head coach to make some hard decisions. And on his final post-game conference for the season, Tomlin has teased his fans of what’s going to happen in the offseason.

Addressing the media for one last time, Tomlin expressed, “I have a feeling that a lot of things are going to change around here.” He also said discussions with Art Rooney II and Omar Khan are scheduled over the next few days. This clearly shows that Tomlin and the front office aren’t taking their disappointments lightly. The way black and gold ended their season was nothing short of an embarrassment. At one stage, they had a 10-3 record with the AFC North Title up for grabs.

But from there, everything went downhill for Tomlin and Co. They simply imploded, losing their next four regular-season games and entered the playoffs on a horrendous record. And instead of snapping losing streaks, they jumped from one to another. Their six straight playoff losses go back to 2016 when they defeated the Chiefs in their AFC divisional round 18-16. Now, witnessing the lack of playoff success in recent years led the Steelers Nation to urge their team to move on from Tomlin.

However, Tomlin has set the record straight. He isn’t going anywhere, “save your time” with the rumors. It seems the Steelers’ head coach, whose contract runs till 2027, isn’t ready to leave Pittsburgh. And you know what? His nine-year Pro Bowler QB Russell Wilson is also not interested in moving on after his first season in black and gold.

Russell Wilson expresses his desire to continue playing in Pittsburgh

When Tomlin decided to drop Justin Fields in favor of his returning veteran QB Russell Wilson, everyone thought that decision would blow up in his face. But in his first seven starts, Wilson led the Steelers to six wins, thereby shutting down the critics. However, those same conversations yet again started to swirl around when the Steelers started losing games. And that streak never ended, with Wilson’s offense getting completely obliterated in Baltimore. They only mustered 280 total yards compared to the Ravens’ 464.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Mike Tomlin hinting at a new era for the Steelers, or just stirring the pot?

Now, despite all the disappointments of how his first season in Pittsburgh ended. Wilson still expressed his desire to come back and continue leading the Steelers next season: “That’s the plan. Obviously, I love it here and everything else. I think we have a great football team. Obviously, it didn’t end the way we wanted it to, and I think there’s a lot more to do.” So, Wilson has come clean on what he desires with black and gold next season. What about Tomlin? What is he thinking about his QB room, “Obviously, we don’t have a quarterback under contract, and so we got some major discussions there.”

See, Tomlin hasn’t ruled out the option of keeping all of them beyond this season: “We are certainly open to considering those guys.” So, that’s a positive for Wilson. But him reprising his starting role over Justin Fields is a different question altogether. As for now, only time will tell what changes are going to occur in Pittsburgh. Will it be Russ moving on or someone else in the roster or even in Tomlin’s coaching staff? What do you think? Who will head toward the exit before the 2025 season comes calling?
