A lot is brewing in South Beach. The Miami Dolphins are not letting this offseason go quietly. They’ve got everyone hooked with their recent roster moves. From letting Jevon Holland slip away to Tyreek Hill being out for next season, Miami’s ride has already begun for the upcoming season. Now, Terron Armstead is making headlines. For what? We’ll get to that later. And head coach Mike McDaniel has made it clear -he’s not messing around this year. So, what’s the latest from South Beach?

The Dolphins HC, in a recent interview with podcaster, host, and writer for the Dolphins, Travis Wingfield, dropped some interesting tidbits about the team’s season. “We had success on long balls, so teams played us conservatively last year,” Mike said. The Dolphins were quite effective in deep passing plays in the 2024 season. Talking about what the team is looking forward to improving upon, the HC added, “We have to make them feel threatened so they stop giving us so much pre-snap depth. We need to protect. And we need success on short and intermediate to open up.” That seems like a warning to the rest of the franchises. So, Mike wants his team to give QB Tua enough time to make plays. How will that happen?

Well, head coach, Mike will know better. On the other hand, McDaniel, at the NFL Scouting Combine, gave an update about Jevon Holland‘s future with the team, too. And it’s what Holland has been saying for a long time -Miami is ‘moving on‘ from Jevon.

On Tuesday, as the Dolphins HC appeared before the media, he said, “I think Jevón has earned the right to go out and test his market. That’s something that I don’t look at as a negative. Because what I don’t want is players being here and wishing they were somewhere else.” Well, it’s time for the 24-year-old to pack his bags and leave Miami for good.

Now, what’s the tea on the team’s offensive star, Terron Armstead?

Terron Armstead agrees to make changes to his contract

The 33-year-old Dolphins OT, Terron Armstead, is not ready to hang up his cleats yet. And for that, he’s willing to do whatever it takes. Shortly after rumors swirled about his retirement, the OT made a comeback by agreeing to make changes to his $38.63 million contract. The news came after HC Mike McDaniel, at the NFL Scouting Combine, shared that they were planning roster moves under the assumption that Terron could retire from the game.

What’s your perspective on:

Can McDaniel's bold strategy and Armstead's sacrifice lead the Dolphins to a breakthrough season?

But now, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport has reported that the Dolphins OT might take a cut in his base salary “Dolphins LT Terron Armstead plans to take his contract down to the minimum, I’m told, from the $28.6M he was set to make. That allows the team to make all the necessary moves they want to make and allows Armstead, 33, to be on the team until he makes his decision on his future.” That’s correct.

Terron was set to pocket $13.3 million in base salary next season, with his total cap hit nearly $23 million. The portion of his contract that was spread out over multiple years will still count against the cap. However, by agreeing to a pay cut, he will free up $10 million in cap space for the Dolphins. This move will give the team more financial flexibility. And allow them to manage their roster by signing or retaining other players.
