The shift-ins and shift-outs have started for the Miami Dolphins. This week, they hired Bobby Slowik as their senior passing game coordinator. But with the addition, Mike McDaniel decided to part ways with a couple of key names from the franchise too, including Raheem Mostert.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport on X, “The #Dolphins have officially released CB Kendall Fuller, RB Raheem Mostert, and TE Durham Smythe, the latter of whom is their longest tenured player.” As soon as this news came out, it created a buzz on the internet. Especially in the case of Mostert’s release.

Nevertheless, along with Raheem Mostert’s exit, Mike McDaniel received a huge update in the franchise’s financial cap. As per an Over The Cap contract expert, “Dolphins save $2.9M with release of Raheem Mostert.” Mostert had seen his playing time drop significantly in the 2024 season. So, it was almost obvious that the franchise would want to let him go.

But the interesting part here is that the team paid Raheem Mostert a one-year, $4.1 million extension last April. That deal included a $1 million raise for him. However, it wasn’t enough to secure his future. So, Miami is now left with a $1 million dead cap hit for 2025 instead of the $3.9 million, the running back was set to count.

In 2023, Raheem Mostert became the Dolphins’s first 1,000-yard rusher after 2016. Before him, Jay Ajayi recorded 1,272 with the franchise. So, it was pretty obvious that Mostert was a good and key player for the team. However, as part of a series of salary-cap saving cuts, RB’s agent, Brett Tessler, notified people that Miami is releasing him. His fans now hope he gets to a place where he deserves to be. Same is the case with Tyreek Hill.

After Raheem Mostert, Tyreek Hill could be the next?

Raheem Mostert has said goodbye to the Phins after three seasons. He wrapped up the season with 85 attempts for 278 yards, helping the team in just 2 touchdowns in 13 games. Now, as Mostert and others have been released, the eyes have shifted to WR Tyreek Hill. So, will he be leaving too?

What’s your perspective on:

Did the Dolphins make a mistake letting Mostert go, or was it a smart financial move?

After the Week 18 loss, frustrated Tyreek Hill said in a press conference,I’m opening the door. I’m out bro…It was great playing here (in Miami), but at the end of the day, I got to do what’s best for my career.” His remark on Miami and exit rumors surprised everyone. But coach Mike McDaniel skipped to respond to the WR’s statements as he just said, “We’ll see how it progresses.” And since then, a number of interested teams have been mentioned in conversations about Hill.

For instance, the latest is said to the Chargers. This is because when Bill Simmons “was trying to get him too come to the Pats….somebody that was with him was like ‘watch out for the Chargers’.” So, this means he could eye for the Chargers next. But wait! There’s more to the story.

During Super Bowl week in New Orleans, Tyreek Hill went to the Pro Football Talk show. There he admitted that whatever he said after that week 18 game, he regrets that. And so, he expressed, “Miami Dolphins, they’ve been very good to me. So why am I going out and saying some of the things I said? I fully take it back. I’m going to come back next year, hoping to still be there, and bust my tail for the team, for the guys, for the fans, for the whole city.” Giving one final chance, Mike Florio asked him which team he would like to stay in. Hill clearly stated, “I want to stay with the Dolphins.
