“We’ve got a beautiful team here and I want to be a part of it,” said Tyreek Hill in October last year. The Dolphins had 1 win and 3 losses then. They made him the captain of the team mid-season. There was camaraderie in the locker room. But the franchise broke the hearts of its fans. They are out of the playoffs with an 8-9 win-loss record. Since 2022, this is the first time Mike McDaniel wouldn’t be in the postseason.
During the season finale against the Jets, Tyreek Hill made a shocking move. He refused to come on the gridiron in the 4th quarter. The HC accepted the receiver’s disloyalty in the post-game conference and said, “I was informed that he was unavailable right before a drive. I was not informed that it was a new injury and you know, I think, at that point of time, my focus was on the players. And I didn’t take the time to go, try to figure out more into that. Just, there was guys in the field, were competing, and we’re trying to win a game so my focus was there.”

“I was informed that he was unavailable… I was not informed that it was a new injury… there was guys on the field that were competing.”

During the game, the WR looked nothing like the best receiver in the league. He had 2 receptions for 20 yards. The entire season has been like that. In his 3rd year with the franchise, he recorded the lowest receptions, 81 in 959 yards with 6 touchdowns in 17 games. Tyreek Hill scored the same number of TDs in 16 games (1 starting) in his rookie year with the Chiefs in 2016. For a person who gets 100+ receptions, it’s alarming.
For the team, the loss against the NY Jets brought disappointment. Tyler Huntley failed to handle the enormous responsibility. He only had 1 touchdown but 2 interceptions. The Broncos closed their playoff entry with a 38-0 shutout of the Chiefs. But they hoped to end the season with a win.
However, the WR gave them a bigger headache. McDaniel looked stunned while talking to reporters and added, “I’m not going to be too much weight on second-hand post game disappointment statements. We will see how the next couple of days’ progress in convos with him and I.” That’s important, coach!
The receiver gave an even bigger jolt after the game. It might increase the work the Phins have to do in the offseason. The season-ending has been crazy.
Tyreek Hill wants out from the Dolphins
The receiver arrived at the Phins in 2022 from the Chiefs. Since then, his former team has won 2 Super Bowls while his current team struggled to reach playoffs. After the game, the Cheetah seemed eager to enter the free market. While talking to reporters, he said, “I’m opening the door. I’m out bro. It was great playing here, but at the end of the day, I got to do what’s best for my career. I’m too much of a competitor to be just out there.”

His tweet also shows he played his last game for the Dolphins. Tyreek Hill thanked the fans and wrote, “Love fin nation blessing yall opened doors for the Hill family forever nothing, but respect and love.” Nothing is confirmed yet. But the struggles of the franchise aren’t ending. On the receiver’s end, it seems more of an outburst.
He knew where he was coming. The Phins haven’t won a Super Bowl for 50 years. So, giving up on the locker room during such a time isn’t something the team would prefer. But there are bigger things at play here. He wants to win trophies.

The rumor mill has already started churning the destinations. And the Chiefs are one of them. Can they stop him from exiting? Next few days are crucial.
