What’s going on in Jerry Jones‘ mind? Wow, this can be a million-dollar question. The Billionaire has been perplexing fans in recent weeks with his behavior toward his HC. On the one hand, the man praises Mike McCarthy for his excellent work. However, there have been rumors that he wants Bill Belichick or someone else as his new head coach. All of this shows that the man has not made up his mind, and it appears that there is another twist in the situation. So, is McCarthy going to be released?

Well, kind of yes. Everyone understands that this was McCarthy’s final year on his deal. And Jay Glazer has also claimed that the HC is a “free agent.”For those who missed it, Glazer appeared on NFL On Fox alongside Dave Helman. And, according to the insider, Mike McCarthy’s image backstage has improved significantly. He not only praised the head coach, but also stated that other NFL teams would want a coach like him who can develop young quarterbacks into great stars.

Jay Glazer explained, “Well, I think we think to start viewing it a little differently, that Mike McCarthy is not a lame duck head coach. Mike McCarthy is a free agent. Because if I am a team out there and he’s my QB, bring some stability and make sure my guys, we talk about culture. Don’t Quit ever. I am looking at McCarthy. If I am Bears, If I am Giants, somebody who needs to, the Raiders if they make a move to develop a young QB.”

The reporter did not stop there; he went on to explain McCarthy’s outstanding bond with Dak Prescott. Other NFL teams have struggled in front of this HC-QB combination over the past 3-4 years. And the primary reason for their destructive nature is the bond they share with each other. In his tenure with the Cowboys, McCarthy had a good record of 42-25. The team qualified for playoffs 3 times in these 5 years (2021,2022, and 2023) but they won the first round just one time in 2022.

All of this suggests that the Cowboys have a solid chance of retaining Mike McCarthy. Right? Well, maybe, but some still believe it will not happen. Now, who believes that?

Mike McCarthy’s direct predecessor believes Jerry Jones is still puzzled

Before being McCarthy boys, the Cowboys were a beast under Jason Garrett. He was the team’s OC for three years and HC from 2010 to 2019. And looks like he has some spicy news for us. The man knows the Cowboys from the ground up, and he does not believe they have a plan in place right now. Garrett just claimed that Jerry Jones has yet to make up his mind regarding Mike McCarthy.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Jerry Jones playing mind games, or is Mike McCarthy's future with the Cowboys truly uncertain?

Have an interesting take?

Jason Garrett explained how the last three weeks will help the billionaire make a decision. He stated, “I don’t think Jerry Jones has made up his mind yet. I think he’s going to evaluate these last three games and make a decision from there. There was an assumption coming into this season that McCarthy’s future would be based on playoff success. They’re 6-8, out of the playoffs, and the team has regressed.”

If these statements are correct, McCarthy’s future looks good for the time being. The Cowboys won convincingly over the Bucs, and Jones was “proud” of his coach for it. Due to this, the HC has also claimed that “I don’t have any concerns.” This implies that the next two weeks will determine whether McCarthy will return next season. Until then, stay tuned for more updates.
