The week 17 was a damp affair. The Seahawks defeated the Bears by 6-3. But the toughness shown by players from both sides impressed the fans. The Hawks needed the victory. They lost the week 15 game against the Packers by 13-30 and the week 16 game against the Vikings by 24-27. So the head coach Mike Macdonald wouldn’t mind the victory margin.
During the post-game conference, the HC praised his team for showing their determination and said, “It’s not easy coming across the country on a short week, playing in an atmosphere like that. Our guys deserve a lot of credit for their poise. Our defense deserves a lot of credit. They played really hard.” This would give confidence to the locker room.
That final Bears play, Woolen INT of desperate pass, was 1st time coach Mike Macdonald called that particular blitz, 9 men on the line. Players couldn’t wait to run it after he put it in 2 wks ago. “Season in the line,” coach says.

In the 4th quarter, the Bears went all-in to equalize the score. On a 4th & 10 play, the last play of the game, with 20 seconds remaining in the game, Caleb Williams made a short pass, but Mike Macdonald had put all his men to stop them. The CB Riq Woolen intercepted the pass and Da Bears’ hopes were crushed.
However, with this loss, the Bears interim HC Thomas Brown’s record worsened to 0-4. He expressed his pain to see them lose again, saying, “I thought special teams played well, the defense played their b—- off, but the offense wasn’t good enough and that starts with me and my game planning.” That’s right. Caleb Williams must be waiting for the rookie season to get over soon.
For now, everyone is curious to see where they end. The Hawks have not qualified for the playoffs yet. In this scenario, the week 17 matchup between the divisional rivals has become interesting.
Mike Macdonald hoping for Cardinals’ win
The NFC has become interesting. In divisional rankings, the Rams are at the top of the NFC West, while the Cardinals are at the third. So, the Hawks HC Mike Macdonald issued a request to his Cardinals’ counterpart, Jonathan Gannon, and said, “Praying it’s for the division championship.” The NCF West division has become a battleground. And the Hawks are eagerly waiting for their last game of the regular season.

The Rams have a 9-6 win-loss record, while the Cardinals have a 7-8 win-loss record. After winning against the Bears, the Seahawks have a 9-7 record after week 17. If the Cardinals defeat the Rams, that will open an opportunity for the Seahawks to grab the NFC West title in the last game of the regular season. Then, that would become the NFC West top spot decider.

If the Hawks don’t clinch the divisional championship, their chances of qualifying for the playoffs become very thin. The Commanders already have a 10-5 win-loss record after week 15. And they have 2 more games to play. For the Seahawks to qualify, they would need Commanders to lose both games while they essentially need to win the week 18 matchup against the Rams. So, the NFC, on the whole, has become interesting.
Mike Macdonald would be glued to his TV, watching the game. The fans are hoping that he could take the team to playoffs in his first season as a head coach. It would be a wonderful achievement.
