When you’re an elite WR, you can put forward your own set of demands. And Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans has two big ones. The free agency is underway, and players across the board are testing waters to see if they can get a better deal elsewhere. Teams are also busy releasing and signing players. And there’s of course the Draft to prepare for.
The Bucs lost out on making it to the Super Bowl for the first after Tom Brady left their team. They lost in the Divisional Round and are hoping to do a better job next year.

The Bucs’ star wideout, Mike Evans, is set to test free agency for the first time in his career, sources revealed to The Athletic. While discussions with the Buccaneers are ongoing, Evans is eager to weigh his options and explore what other teams have to offer. Despite this move, insiders suggest that Evans’ tenure with the Buccaneers may not necessarily come to an end.
“Mike wants to play with an elite quarterback in an offense that will showcase him — and be paid like a top wide receiver. He doesn’t want to play with a rookie QB. Winning a Super Bowl is a key priority.”@Schultz_Report on a message from Mike Evans’ agent pic.twitter.com/TMeErJ4IpU

There are two things that the WR wants from his team in 2024. “Mike wants to play with an elite quarterback in an offense that will showcase him — and be paid like a top wide receiver.” Playing under a rookie QB, fresh out of college is out of the question for him. After coming close to winning his second Super Bowl, he clearly wants to win one next year.
And considering his track record, he might have many takers.
Evans’ stunning 2023 campaign
Mike Evans had an impressive season last year. He started every regular-season game, racking up 1,255 receiving yards, 79 receptions, and 13 TDs. His knack for finding the end zone put him in league-leading company alongside Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins. At 30 years old, Evans continues to be a force on the field, marking his 10th consecutive 1,000-yard season. He also made it to the Pro Bowl five times, and is a two-time Second-team All-Pro receiver.
Drafted by the Buccaneers as the seventh overall pick in 2014, Evans has remained a loyal fixture in the team’s lineup, amassing an impressive career total of 11,680 receiving yards and earning five Pro Bowl selections. In the upcoming free agency market, Evans joins other notable wide receivers like Marquise Brown, Michael Pittman Jr., and Calvin Ridley.
For Tampa Bay, securing Evans’ return would undoubtedly bolster their chances in the upcoming campaign.
