A strange comparison of round picks! Patrick Mahomes has been equated with multiple NFL star quarterbacks such as Tom Brady, Josh Allen, and more. He has even been compared with NBA star Stephen Curry, as he himself admitted, “If I played basketball, I’d be just like Steph Curry.” However, this time, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is being analogized to basketball player Mikal Bridges.

On Tuesday, it was reported that Bridges is being traded by the Brooklyn Nets to the New York Knicks. This move will reunite him with Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo, who helped the Wildcats win two NCAA championships. Regarding this trade, the athlete is going at a high value, as the Knicks are getting a lot of picks in return for bridges. As the NBA world is talking about this special deal that is going to happen after 1983 between the New York rivals, a reporter brought Patrick Mahomes into the picture.

Although Lamar Jackson won the MVP title this past season, according to anchor Andrew Siciliano, Patrick Mahomes is currently the NFL’s most valuable player. However, with MVP, he doesn’t mean the MVP title holder. Instead, Siciliano believes that the 28-year-old QB is a highly value player if the team goes to trade him. Sharing the Mikal Bridges’ trade news, which states: “BREAKING: The Brooklyn Nets have agreed in principle on a trade to send F Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks for Bojan Bogdanovic, four unprotected first-round picks, a protected first-round pick via Bucks, an unprotected pick swap and a second-rounder, sources tell ESPN,” on X, Siciliano made a surprising statement.

He compared Bridges to Mahomes, and wrote, “FIVE 1st-round picks. Patrick Mahomes is the only NFL player that could return FIVE 1st-round picks.” His tweet basically suggests that in the NFL, Mahomes is so highly valued that if he were to be traded, only he could fetch a return of five first-round draft picks, which is an exceptionally high value for a single player.

Well, there is no doubt that Patrick Mahomes is currently one of the high-value players in terms of achievements for the Chiefs. However, it’s important to note that Mahomes’ 2017 NFL Draft was quite interesting too, as the Bills unknowingly fueled the Chiefs’ dynasty.

The Bills missed the golden opportunity to dethrone their rival, Chiefs?

In hindsight, people often see things clearly that were unclear at the time. For instance, in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills had the 10th pick, but they decided to trade it to the Chiefs. The Chiefs used that pick to get Patrick Mahomes, who later became a superstar quarterback. At the time, the Bills didn’t seem interested in the available quarterbacks and were happy to trade down, gaining multiple future picks. As per records, the Bills happily traded Mahomes no. 10 pick, for No. 27, 2017 (Tre’Davious White), No. 91, 2017 (Zay Jones), and No. 16, 2018 (Tremaine Edmunds).

Besides that, for the Chiefs, this decision was surprising because Mahomes was seen as risky, and the team already had a good quarterback in Alex Smith. Furthermore, according to the reports, KC was seen “a couple of pieces away from being serious contenders in the AFC, and giving up multiple picks for a developmental prospect hurt the team’s immediate outlook.
