Sixteen years of a career, but not a single Super Bowl. Winning a Lombardi Trophy must be the dream of every player who makes it to the NFL. Sadly, legendary Eagles QB Michael Vick could never get his hands on the Super Bowl ring. Vick played with the Falcons for the first six years of his career. In his sixth year, he became the first quarterback to ever rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season. Then, Michael had to go on a long two-year break following a suspension. In 2009, he made a comeback with the Eagles.
After gracing the gridiron for sixteen years, Vick decided to hang up his cleats. And what was he going to do next? Well, the QB had already made plans, thanks to Andy Reid. And like most of you know, Michael chose the coaching path after bidding goodbye to the NFL. But before that, he had a gig with Fox as an analyst. In 2017, Vick interned with one of the best coaches out there, Andy Reid.
Talking to Dan Patrick on his show, he shared how he became interested in coaching. “It started many, many years ago, in like 2017. When I was doing an internship in Kansas City, with Andy Reid when he first drafted Patrick. The first year he got Patrick, Alex Smith was there. And so I was there, you know, learning to be a coach. And what it truly meant, the work that had to be put in. I saw behind the scenes, I learned a lot.”

The former Falcons QB got a gig as an OC for the Atlanta Legends in 2018. But before he could apply his learning from Reid to the team, he was removed as the OC. Last year, Vick was named the HC of the ‘Norfolk State Spartans.’ And now, he is making moves at NSU, shaping his coaching staff for the future.
Michael Vick hires two recruits for NSU
“It wasn’t the easiest decision to make. I’ve got family that I consider, I care about and I love. This requires a lot of change in lifestyle. But at the same time, it allows me to serve young men in my community.” This is what Michael Vick had to say when NSU came knocking at his door. Now, as he is aiming to take the Spartans to new heights, Vick has made some additions to his coaching staff.

The former Eagles QB has hired a former NFL player to take over as the new special teams coordinator. Wondering who this former player might be? Well, it’s Tory Woodbury. Sadly, Tory did not have what you could call a ‘spectacular’ NFL career. His career lasted only six years, and even then, he mostly did not play. Woodbury has nine years of coaching experience on his resume, however, and now he will be joining forces with Michael in shaping up NSU.

Vick has also reunited with a friend of his from college. The NSU HC has signed Andre Kendrick as the running backs coach. Both Andre and Vick played football together during their university days at Virginia Tech. The duo led their team to a championship appearance 25 years ago. And now they will be working together to lead the Spartans to future contests.
