Michael Strahan is making the headlines again. This time, the Good Morning America host’s hilarious drama with the co-host and legendary soap star Susan Lucci captivated many. On Monday, Feb. 24 the ‘All My Children’ actress humorously continued her soap opera fight lessons with Strahan.
That too, by throwing water on his face. And Strahan’s response to this act is heartwarming.
Lucci, who is best known for her role as Erica Kane on “All My Children” for more than 40 years, reflected on her Off-Broadway play My First Ex-Husband on GMA. Interestingly, after the hilarious act on his show, the GMA host responded to the American actress. Taking to his official IG account, former Giants DE expressed his funny feelings about this act. By-re-sharing American television host’s post on his IG story, he dropped multiple laughing emojis.

Originally, Susan expressed her gratefulness to Strahan for taking the whole act positively. “Fun on GMA this morning! Thank you, Michael Strahan—you are such a great sport!!!,” she mentioned in his post caption, dropping multiple laughing emojis, with red hearts, and dancing emojis. She was not there just for the GMA fights, but, to the delight of the fans, Lucci promoted her return to Broadway in “My First Ex-Husband.” The play, written by The View co-host Joy Behar, is poised to open on February 26, 2025.
It is not the first time that Susan leveraged the soap-style theatrics. Previously, she schooled co-anchor Michael Strahan on how to go about a classic soap opera fight. Back in 2023, she put the “chops to the test,” as Strahan addressed her, saying, “You taught me the good old fake TV slap.” The duo pretended to engage in a quick fight leading to a fake slap, as Strahan rolled on the floor. He remarked excitedly to Susan’s praises, “You sold that!” Strahan cherished it saying, “You know what? My life is now made. I’ve retired, everybody!” Once again, Susan Lucci agreed to teach him how to amplify the intensity of a soap opera fight.

Susan gave a perfect demo on how to escalate the on-screen conflict, highlighting the importance of props. She chose a glass of water as her weapon. Lucci explained, “It’s really important to not just out of nowhere just all of a sudden have a fight.” She added further, “You have to build to that moment where you are really, really ticked off.” Those are some serious lessons from the actress to a veteran NFL player.

Building the moment indeed, she doused Strahan with water, not once but thrice. Her first shot involved light splashing. Tensions spread immediately across the GMA set, as co-anchors Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos were off the stage quickly. Laughing off her first attempt, Lucci gave a word of advice. She remarked, “You have to have a better aim than I just had.” Strahan, at the receiving end, replied, “I still got wet though!” That was a riot.
The second time, Lucci sought perfection. While she emptied the entire glass of water on Strahan’s face, she was far from satisfied. And, owing to the nature of soap opera, she finally took a full pitcher of water to douse Strahan completely. Seeing the water pour down on Strahan, Roberts remarked, “Can you come by every week, Susan?” The seven-time Pro Bowler indeed received a good lesson from the best. Someone should just give them the Emmy!
