Just 29 years old, Patrick Mahomes has already won 3 Super Bowls. Playing in his 8th NFL season, the Chiefs QB has already secured a spot in the playoffs this year as well. And the rival playoff teams are trying to find the weak spots in the Chiefs lineup. But the Grim Reaper hasn’t done it alone. He has a great TE Travis Kelce and a versatile HC Andy Reid who made sure he has the right recipe for success. Now, the team got a huge endorsement from an NFL legend.
During the December 30 episode of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, 3-time Super Bowl winner Michael Irvin made a bold statement. Warning all other 13 teams that have qualified for the playoffs, he said, “I’m sorry to tell everybody out there, but they won’t affect Kansas City Chiefs. This is not a timing offense. This is an offense that is built between Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes. And there is no timing on it. That’s why it’s been impossible to stop because you can’t figure out the timing. It’s (like) we’re going to find where you are not and I’m going to go to that spot and they win like that.”

There have been games where they didn’t play their best, like the week 2 game against the Bengals when they won 26-25. But overall, the QB has done well with relatively less-experienced players. But their approach of not relying on one player has helped them achieve the 15-1 win-loss record. And the performance of their leader has been inspiring.
During the week 15 game against the Browns, Patrick Mahomes added another feather to his cap. He became the fastest quarterback to score 300 touchdowns in 128 games. With this, he broke Aaron Rodgers’s record who took 134 games. So overall, the locker room is in a good frame of mind.
The HC has also done a great job filling up the injured spots. He acquired WRs DeAndre Hopkins and JuJu Smith-Schuster to keep his O-line robust. Now, they can rest before the playoffs.
Andy Reid to rest Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and others
After winning the week 17 game against the Steelers, the Chiefs have locked in no.1 seed. So, they can relax before the week 18 game. HC Andy Reid had made a firm decision. They might rest Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and other starters against the Broncos.

In that scenario, the Broncos might win the game and secure a spot in the playoffs. They only needed to tie the week 17 game against the Bengals but lost 24-30 in the overtime. It would be problematic for the Dolphins and Bengals who have an 8-8 win-loss record and need the Broncos to lose.
