For Washington Commanders fans, the 1991 season feels like a distant memory. That was the last time their team stood on the NFL’s biggest stage, hoisting the Lombardi Trophy under Joe Gibbs. Since then, they’ve endured decades of false hope, coaching changes, and front-office blunders. But last season? Something shifted. Jayden Daniels was drafted, and suddenly, belief crept back into Washington. The rookie QB didn’t just impress — he reignited a fan base starving for success. They finally ended a 33-year drought by reaching the divisional round.

Now, Dan Quinn is doubling down. The ultimate goal is to win the Super Bowl. He’s pulling out all the stops to secure the right pieces for Daniels, starting with a major investment in All-Pro tackle Laremy Tunsil. But Quinn isn’t stopping there. He’s eyeing another familiar face — one that could unlock even more potential for his young quarterback.

According to USA Today, “The Commanders have plenty of cap space to improve the offense around Jayden Daniels further.” Having such a blessing, Dan Quinn is now eyeing the former Cowboys WR, Michael Gallup.

As per NFL insider Ian Rapoport on X,The #Commanders are hosting WR Michael Gallup on a visit tomorrow, source said. A ton of familiarity on that staff.” A couple of days Rapoport also highlighted, “Former #Cowboys WR Michael Gallup, who abruptly retired last offseason, intends to make a comeback, per his agent Kevin Robinson. The #Raiders released him from the reserve/retired list today for that reason. He’s still just 29.

Gallup signed with the Raiders last April on a one-year deal worth up to $3 million. He was supposed to fight for the no. 3 receiver job. Then, out of nowhere, he walked away abruptly, retiring himself after the organized team activities and minicamp in the offseason. No doubt his career has been a rollercoaster.

In six seasons with the Cowboys, Gallup racked up 266 catches, 3,744 yards and 21 touchdowns. But injuries change everything. A torn ACL in 2021 slowed him down, yet Dallas still believed in him. They handed him a five-year, $57.5 million contract. And he even tried to deliver, but things never felt the same. Over the next two seasons, he managed just 73 catches, 842 yards and 6 TDs. Not bad, but not Gallup at his best. But this time he might be paired with Dan Quinn’s Commanders.

Can Michael Gallup's comeback be the game-changer the Commanders need for a Super Bowl run?

Have an interesting take?

With Dan Quinn eyeing him, it will be a great chance to reunite with a coach he knows well. To the people who are unaware, Gallup and Quinn were together in Dallas for three years. Hence, their reunion might come as positive news for Jayden Daniels and the offense. So, now it remains to be seen whether the deal gets done. Until then, and even beyond, the rigorous effort to bolster the offense for Daniels is still on for Quinn!

Dan Quinn makes a massive move

Jayden Daniels just put together a rookie season for the ages—and he did it without elite protection up front. That’s why Dan Quinn and the Commanders are making a power move. They’re bringing in Laremy Tunsil. According to reports, the Commanders gave up four picks to Houston to get 30-year-old left tackle Laremy Tunsil on Monday. Tunsil is a five-time Pro Bowl left tackle with a $163 million net worth. So it’s no surprise he comes at the price of a third- and seventh-round pick in 2025, plus a second- and fourth-rounder in 2026.

Houston sends back a 2025 fourth-round pick, but the real win for Washington is Tunsil, one of the best pass protectors in the game. Last season, Dan Quinn’s O-line held up better than expected—largely because of Daniels’ ability to scramble and escape pressure. But now? Tunsil can change everything. He’s a dominant force, giving Daniels more time to work his magic.

Tunsil is now in the final year of a $75 million deal, but with Washington’s cap space, an extension seems inevitable. After all, Dan Quinn’s team is building an experienced offense with one single aim: help their ROTY QB lift the team one step further and achieve glory!
