The Cowboys have started their offseason with big headlines. Like Deion Sanders‘ potential arrival in Dallas or the potential capture of bitter rivals Eagles‘ OC Kellen Moore. Now they’re making another splash. Or rather, their linebacker, Micah Parsons, is. He has reacted to Cowboys legend Dez Bryant‘s tweet on one of the very important subjects about the org.
Dez Bryant, former Cowboys star, wrote on X, “From now on, I’ll speak my truth about the Cowboys.., whether it’s good or bad. Jerry has built a great brand, and now it’s time for the team to start winning. It’s time for a real culture shift. I’m fed up with all the nepotism..get someone in there who can win games…”. Micah Parsons was pissed off after reading this and reacted with a retweet.
Parsons quoted the post and said, “Stuff like this irritates me Dez because you had enough talent and were probably one of greatest in your time! You could have changed the culture brother!! You could have changed the culture !” The star linebacker’s words suggested he knew what or who Bryant was referring to.

Well, Dez Bryant certainly has a good idea of what it’s like to be a part of Jerry Jones‘ organization. He worked with Jones for 8 years, from 2010 to 2017. So is there something wrong with the Dallas Cowboys culture? Why did Micah Parsons react to it? Let’s dive in.
What’s wrong with the Cowboys’ culture Micah Parsons was talking about?
Mike McCarthy, the outgoing head coach of the Cowboys, spent five seasons with the organization. But before he left the city, the Super Bowl-winning HC pointed out the dangerous culture at the organization. McCarthy was very keen on teamwork. But he felt that the new wave of ‘individual branding’ and ‘contract’ culture had kicked the org in the ribs.
Micah Parsons has already been called out for organizational culture issues earlier in the season. It was mid-November 2024 when McCarthy admitted to reporters, “Micah and I had a conversation this morning about it and handled those things as men should handle it.” He was referring to Parsons’ post-game comments on McCarthy being able to “leave and go” from the Dallas Cowboys. Those comments also came at a time when McCarthy was directly addressing cultural issues at the org. Thus, Parson’s words were taken kinda out of context and blown up. But as you know, the reformer is now gone.

Apart from McCarthy, many renowned journalists have also discussed the Cowboys’ culture. Mike Fisher called Jerry Jones’ team a “marketing company that plays football on the side.” And you can’t deny the fact that the ‘one-man-army’ culture has deteriorated the values of the Cowboys in recent times.

A reporter from Dallas, Jon Machota, perfectly captured the main problem with the franchise and Jerry Jones. Machota pointed out, “Jerry Jones loves to say he has a high tolerance for ambiguity, which he said many times even after last Sunday’s loss to Washington.” He added that the Cowboys owner loves to drag matters to the last minute.
Well, if Micah Parsons isn’t happy with the culture or feels like he’s being unfairly targeted, he only has to put up with it for one more year. His contract runs until the 2025 season after Dallas triggered a year’s extension. But maybe he wants to stay and prove the haters wrong. Things remain just as Jerry Jones prefers: ambiguous.
