The 2024 season has gone crazy for the Dallas Cowboys. Earlier in the offseason, the owner and the GM, Jerry Jones, carried on months-long drama over the contract extension of CeeDee Lamb. Later, there were questions raised about their head coach Mike McCarthy’s role as Jones made all the announcements about the team. Now, their linebacker, Micah Parsons, has opened up.

Disappointed with their 5-7 win-loss record after week 13, he claimed that the injuries affected their games. It felt like he was admitting defeat when he said, “The injuries have been terrible. And, you know, it really s—s.” And that’s right. Their leader, Dak Prescott, was ruled out of the entire season after injuring his hamstring in the week 9 game against the Falcons. However, that wasn’t the only thing.

Micah Parsons also gave a powerful message to Jerry Jones during the ESPN interview and added, “(Jerry Jones) has his own mindset about who he wants to coach. This is his team. I’m kind of just, like, a pawn in this business.” Well, everyone would agree. Jones takes all decisions at the franchise. We saw it firsthand when CeeDee Lamb complained about the sun during the week 10 game against the Eagles.

The owner was adamant about not to use curtains in the NFL games. And no one on the team could convince him to change his stance. That’s unbelievable. Even fans were confused. The curtains are used during the concerts at the AT&T Stadium, but he just blocked that move in the football games.

However, for now, everyone is concerned about the HC McCarthy. Though Jones has clarified that he would not fire him mid-season, there is no news about his extension. But the Cowboys linebacker shared his views about that scenario too.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Jerry Jones' control over the Cowboys stifling their potential, or is it just part of the game?

Micah Parsons wants McCarthy and everyone else back in 2025

Back in 2020, the head coach signed a 5-year contract with the Cowboys. And his performance has been quite fair. They qualified for playoffs 3 times in 4 seasons. The LB also believes in the coach and said, “I think I would like a fair shot with everyone back, players, coaches because the injuries kind of struck of what this season could really be.” That’s great.

Not only Micah Parsons, but Dak Prescott also extended support to the coach in a Yahoo Sports interview on Friday, saying, “I wholeheartedly believe in him.” The team would get a strong boost when the quarterback returns in 2025. Jones also looked in favor of the coach during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan on November 26. Talking about his extension, he said, “I don’t think that’s crazy at all. This is a Super Bowl-winning coach.” However, there are no concrete talks.

Maybe the owner is waiting for this season to end. If the Cowboys want to qualify for the playoffs, they need to win all the remaining 5 games. But that doesn’t guarantee a spot in the postseason. Fans are also eager to see how they finish.
