The biggest question this upcoming season is going to be about the Kansas City Chiefs‘ three-peat. After their third win in five years, the feat doesn’t seem too unachievable either. While the Chiefs Kingdom is hyped up for another run of their heroes, Travis Kelce revealed how they are motivating themselves for the journey.

During Kansas City’s press conference after their mandatory minicamp, they asked the tight end about whether he and his teammates “verbalize” the ambition. Kelce didn’t hesitate to deny the idea. “No,” said the star. “It really only comes up when I got cameras in front of me. I think everybody’s pretty motivated to keep the mentality we had last year, you know.

Kelce further explained that they don’t get stuck on goals that are too far-off; rather, the team stays pumped by correcting their flaws each day. “We didn’t get to back to back by always talking back to back. We got there by trying to figure out what’s the best way to get better from last week and yesterday, and -I think that mentality is key in something like this.”

The TE explained how the team keeps realistic goals in sight, and the first step towards their ultimate win would be winning the AFC Championship. “You can’t get too far down the road,” said Kelce. “Obviously, there’s a goal set, but there’s -much of them that are set before that like – trying to win the division and trying to get first place in the AFC. Those kinda things are more obtainable right now than thinking about the threepeat at the end of the year.” One thing needed to keep the wins coming is consistency, and Kelce’s secret lies in his head coach!
