Jalen Hurts thanks his parents for what he is today! As it’s rightfully said–discipline, hard work, and passion help achieve one’s dreams. And the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback can easily resonate with it. However, it’s not only him who has that discipline and passion for sports. His parents too, are equally passionate about what they do. And that’s the reason, they take immense pride in their son, Hurts.
Eagles quarterback, Jalen Hurts, was raised by parents Averion and Pamela Hurts in Channelview, Texas. Both parents were educators and laid a strong foundation for Jalen’s future in football and academics. Jalen excelled as an honor roll student and a star athlete. During a pre-Super Bowl press conference, Hurts credited his parents for instilling wisdom in him. He said, “I have a foundation kind of set for myself, but my parents did that for me. And I think being a coach’s kid, they created habits for me to see things a certain way, have the wisdom that I have, and I give all the credit to them.”
Averion Hurts was a football player himself. However, his dreams came to an end after he suffered a knee injury. Then in 1994, he turned towards education and became a Jalen’s coach. Averion expressed pride in Jalen’s hard work and passion once in an interview. He said, “It’s a blessing to watch a young man that developed a passion for a sport and really, really worked hard at every level and every turn. It’s just something he was obsessed with and it’s really remarkable to see the journey and to be a part of it … It’s humbling as a parent and as a coach.”

On the other hand, Jalen’s mother, Pamela Hurts, holds degrees in Bachelor of Arts and a Master’s in Business Administration. Serving as the Chief of the Special Services Department at Channelview, Pamela teaches math and physical education. Despite being a working lady, she never compromised in upbringing her children, always ensuring that one parent remains with their children at a time.
Besides Jalen, Averion and Pamela Hurts have two more children, and not surprisingly, they both are also athletic.

Kynnedy, on the other hand, is the youngest sibling. She leads a private life compared to her brothers, but follows an athletic path like them. She plays volleyball at the same school as a senior, and boasts impressive stats (48 spikes, 71 kills and 66 digs) as an outside hitter. Jalen loves his younger sister a lot, and that’s the reason he revealed in a GQ quiz of 2021 that he has kept $70,000 aside for her college education.
For Jalen Hurts, his family is everything! And it is this familial support that has allowed the QB to grow and find a place for himself in the NFL.
