The Las Vegas Raiders made headlines all season—for the wrong reasons. It was a train wreck of a season after they finished 4-13. What’s interesting is that they had a 32-person coaching staff, which made it one of the biggest in the league, but it turns out bigger doesn’t always mean better. Add to this a lousy QB situation, and Head Coach, Antonio Pierce’s poor in-game decision-making, the season fell apart and culminated in Pierce getting fired.

“The Las Vegas Raiders have relieved Antonio Pierce of his duties as head coach. We appreciate Antonio’s leadership, first as an interim head coach and this past season as the head coach,” the Raiders announced in a statement. And it seems DE Maxx Crosby has come to terms with the decision. What did he say?

Crosby stated on The Rush Podcast, “I was very vocal, you know what I mean? I believed in AP [Antonio Pierce]. This season didn’t go the way anybody expected it, to be honest. And it is unfortunate. This business is not easy and for the coaching side and front office, there’s just constant turnover and it’s something that especially with being here, being with the Raiders, I’ve seen, I mean, I am gonna be on a new head coach again. You know, this is the fifth head coach we have had or whatever. So we’ll see.”

The Raiders have changed the HC quite frequently. Here’s a list of the last five:

CoachFrom To
Antonio Pierce20232024
Josh McDaniels20222023
Rich Bisaccia20212021
Jon Gruden20182021 (previous stint-1998 to 2001)
Jack Del Rio20152017

Crosby continued, “At the end of the day, first and foremost, shout out to AP, big shout out to AP. I wish him the best and his family everything…Like he just signed a deal and now he’s got to completely change everything and just wish him the best and everything, you know going forward. But yeah, we’ll see.”

Let us not forget that it was Maxx Crosby who really wanted Pierce to become the new HC after he served as the interim head coach. The DE even threatened to leave the team if Pierce wasn’t given the seat.

After three years with the Raiders, Pierce had a mixed record with the team. I mean, take last season, where the Raiders named him the interim coach. And what happened? The Las Vegas team recorded 5-4 under his coaching, and the fans cheered for him after a season-ending win against the Broncos.

What’s your perspective on:

Are the Raiders doomed to repeat history with their constant coaching changes and front office decisions?

Have an interesting take?

Fast-forward to now, and the tables have turned for the worst. The team managed just four wins this entire season. One reason could also be that the defense had five starters injured, and that put a lot of strain on the team, but it seems the front office didn’t deem such issues big enough to retain Pierce.

Well, the Raiders’ HC seat is vacant. Once Again! What will happen now? I mean, they fired Josh McDaniels in the midst of the 2023 season. And the 4-13 resulted in the firing of Pierce. Wouldn’t it be great if the Raiders showed this kind of turnover during the regular season games?

Maxx Crosby is used to the many changes by now

See, Crosby was very vocal about Pierce, last season. Though he admires the HC, the front office had other plans for him. And it seems the “constant turnover” is something Crosby doesn’t feel he is new to. He understands that change is always to come.

For instance, one of the biggest changes the team had during the season was Gardner Minshew II as the starting QB. Many fans perceived him as a Band-Aid quarterback; not someone who really belonged.

Then let us not forget the Davante Adams fallout and trade also took place. So it seems like the only thing constant is change.

Now, all things considered, the Raiders have become the sixth team with a vacant head coach post. To spice things up, the Las Vegas team will have their third head coach in three seasons this fall. Wait, there’s more. This is the first time when the team is looking for a new HC after Tom Brady was involved with the team as a minority owner.

As per reports, the team is considering names like Liam Coen (Tampa Bay Buccaneers OC), Aaron Glenn (Detroit Lions DC), and Patrick Graham (Las Vegas Raiders DC) for the HC position.

It was a disappointing campaign this season, which included a 10-game losing streak and their first winless season against the AFC West since 2006. It will be interesting to see if their new head coach can successfully turn around their luck. What do you think?
