It’s safe to say right now that the Raiders Nation is pretty familiar with losing seasons. Sin City hasn’t sniffed the playoffs for the last three years, and this season’s 4-13 record was way worse than anybody in Vegas could have imagined. They didn’t show any growth under their first-year head coach, Antonio Pierce. Instead, you could say they went backward. So, Maxx Crosby, who had been a part of the Raiders since their Oakland days, summed up what’s going on in Tom Brady’s franchise.
Popping up on the Good Morning Football Show, Crosby shared some inside information on the Raiders’ current atmosphere in the last couple of weeks. “It’s very eerie around there. I would say so, you know, a lot of new changes and things like that.” Like the Raiders had just fired both head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco after a single season in Vegas. This means Crosby, who had been a part of the Raiders since 2019, will soon play under his fifth coach in silver and black.

His time with the Raiders started off under Jon Gruden, followed by Rich Bisaccia. And a single season both under Josh McDaniels and Antonio Pierce. So, Crosby isn’t someone who has found stability in his coaches like a player would ideally prefer. And you know what makes it more difficult for Tom Brady’s Raiders to find a good head coach? Their history of bad appointments in coaches, including interims since 2002. They have gone through almost 14 head coaches, which shows the lack of consistency they had with people at the helm.

Well, those problems in the management have also affected their performance in the field. Sin City hasn’t witnessed a playoff victory for their Raiders in the last 23 years. So, Brady, who is apparently calling the shots off the field, is clearly taking his time to bring the right person in. And if they aren’t able to do so, Crosby would probably walk away before next season.
Maxx Crosby continues to keep a close eye on the Raiders
See, Crosby didn’t just discuss what’s going on behind the scenes at the Raiders. On the Good Morning Football Show, he also spoke about his probable future in Vegas: “For me, I am just focused on the day-to-day. You know, a lot of things were out of my control. You know what I mean? I am gonna sit back and wait to see what happens. But I am just focused on my rehab right now. We will take one step at a time.” Suggesting the fact he said, “a lot of things were out of my control,” Crosby could have meant his love for Antonio Pierce.

He was pretty vocal in helping Pierce land the full-time job when he led the Raiders to a 5-4 record as an interim head coach last season. However, this time, he isn’t interested in being vocal like last year: “I was very vocal about wanting AP here. That was very well-known, and I don’t take that back. Where I’m currently at, that’s not my job. I’m gonna be real. That’s not my job. I know my influence.” So, Crosby is opting for the backseat now after his suggested choice in AP didn’t work out at all.
And considering he still has 2 years left on his $94M contract, he would probably stay until he hit free agency in 2026. But things could change in a flash for Crosby, whose target is to win with the Raiders: “All I want to do is win.” So, let’s see whether Brady can put forth a winning formula for Crosby with his new head coach and GM. Losing their 4-time Pro Bowl won’t be a great start for Brady’s reign as an owner in the NFL.
