If there’s one thing that Matthew Stafford‘s wife Kelly hates about the holiday season’s magic, it’s the lack thereof. And with growing kids, keeping up the Christmas spirit can definitely be a handful, which the mother of four heartbreakingly dwelled upon. But before we get to that part…
For the unversed: The Los Angeles Rams quarterback shares four daughters with Kelly—identical twin daughters, Sawyer and Chandler, whom they welcomed on March 31, 2017. In August 2018, a third daughter, Hunter, was born. Tyler was born in June 2020. Having said that, Matthew and Kelly can be described as what people call college sweethearts. The duo met as students at the University of Georgia and started dating in 2009, before getting married in 2015. Kelly, who’s former NFL player Chad Hall’s sister, was a cheerleader back then, and apparently hated her future husband.
“It wasn’t that cute of a relationship at first. I hated him. I loved him. I dated the backup to piss him off, which worked,” she had stated on the ‘Off The Vine With Kaitlyn Bristowe’ this year. “We met. Talked all night, had a really good time.” But still the QB was not as serious as Kelly wanted him to be…

“He was like, ‘This is fun.’ I was like, ‘Oh, we’re in a relationship. This is great,’ ‘cause that’s all I knew. I didn’t know casual dating,” she had revealed. But all’s well that ends well, and here we are 15 years later watching an adorable and tightly knit family make it through life. Well, except for some minor inconveniences.
Recently, on her “The Morning After” podcast, the 46-year-old shared that her little ones have been asking too many questions about Santa. “I’m getting so many questions about Santa already. You’re only seven! It’s pissing me off,” said Kelly jokingly on the podcast.
It looks like the mom of four is having a hard time keeping up with her kids’ curiosity. She didn’t stop there. Posting a story on her Instagram handle, she wrote, “I’m all about Christmas. I don’t like that my kids are asking if he’s real or not already due to parents telling their kids he is not real at, in my opinion, a very young age.” Uh-oh, looks like Matthew’s sweetheart is having a tough time. “Taking Christmas belief is my biggest pet peeve”, added Kelly.
Well, quite an honest confession. But, truth be told, that’s exactly how Kelly has been—true to herself and not fearful of the ugly truth. Being a mother of four is not easy, as her bout with postpartum depression threatened to take every ounce of happiness from her life…

“I was in a terrible place, and not only did I not have energy for Matthew, but I was so insecure about my body,” she revealed about her first pregnancy, before adding, “It was really hard on our marriage because of my feelings toward my own body. Saying it out loud, it seems selfish, but that’s where I was … I was so insecure, I didn’t understand why my body wasn’t doing what I was seeing all these other bodies do, and I was also exhausted because I’m trying to figure out how to take care of twins. I was in such a bad headspace, and I didn’t know how to get out.”
In 2019, she was also diagnosed with acoustic neuroma—a benign tumor that can even cause facial paralysis and hearing loss. “I’m terrified of losing my hearing, I’m terrified of losing facial function, I’m terrified of far worse things that could happen and I’m terrified that I won’t take the time I need to recover because the guilt I might feel of being absent from my kids for too long,” she had confessed in an emotional Instagram post back in 2019. Thankfully, the danger’s over, and Matthew couldn’t be prouder:
“She’s an incredible role model to our girls…I’m just really proud of her.”
Having said that, Kelly is fully enjoying life now. She has been vacationing in Florida for the past week with her little ones. She posted a series of stories on her Instagram from her holiday. However, she’s made it back home just in time for Thanksgiving. Hopefully, Dad Matthew will join his daughters and help answer all their questions. But before that, there’s one difficult question that needs answering:
Can Matthew Stafford save the Los Angeles Rams?
The Rams have been pretty inconsistent this season. With 5 wins and 6 losses, their playoff chances are still up in the air. But honestly, so is everyone else’s in the NFC West. The Seahawks are on top with a 6-5 record. The Cardinals are also at 6-5, so it’s all still wide open. If the Rams can win the rest of their games, they’ve still got a shot. They lost their last game to the Eagles (37-20). It’s like they’re just scraping by, especially since they’re struggling against the strong teams.
Although Matthew Stafford has been playing solid lately (like in the last game against the Eagles where he threw two touchdowns), here’s the thing: Stafford can’t do it all by himself. The offense and defense need to do their part. In Week 11, Stafford threw for 295 yards and four touchdowns against the Patriots. In 11 games so far, Stafford has racked up 2,800 passing yards, along with 15 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.
The Rams will face off against the New Orleans Saints on the December 1, at the Caesars Superdome, the Saints’ home turf. Stafford’s going to be looking for a win to get his team back on track. The Saints have won their last two games against the Atlanta Falcons (20-17) and the Cleveland Browns (35-14). Let’s see if they can manage to continue their winning streak.
