It wasn’t your typical high-octane showdown, but Matthew Stafford’s Rams found a way to carry out a gritty 12-6 victory over the Niners on a rain-drenched Thursday Night. Talking about quick highlights of the game? Well, there’s not pretty much to cover, but it appears the Rams can do it all if we take a look at their last two games. The game wasn’t pretty, but thanks to Puka Nacua’s offensive spark, it made it 7 out of the last 9 for the Rams.
Nacua’s standout moment? A jaw-dropping 51-yard reception that eventually set up Joshua Karty’s game-winning field goal. When asked about Nacua’s reception, the QB said, “Yeah, I mean, he did a nice job running by. You know the defense and I tried to put the ball out there, give him a chance to make play nice shot.”

Let’s not sugarcoat it, the rain havoc on both offenses. And Thursday night became the field-goal battle instead of an end-zone showcase. I mean, honestly, it’s not every day we encounter a no-touchdown game. The combined offenses came short of 200 yards with only nine first downs and four successful third downs from 17 attempts.
Fast forward to the late second half when the game was hanging in balance. Stafford’s throw was on his target and no one doubted where the ball would land. Nacua hauled it in and sliced through the Niners’ defense, putting the Rams in a prime scoring position.
The Rams’ QB had managed to complete 4 out of 12 passes of just 23 yards. Thanks to the WR, who was the main target of Stafford. Nacua caught 3 out of 4 receptions and carried the ball for 19 yards out of those 23.

On the flip side, when we look at the 49ers, it can’t get any uglier this season. Amidst the rain-soaked game, a controversial move from the linebacker De’Vondre Campbell grabbed the spotlight. As the 49ers are struggling with LB Dre Greenlaw’s injury, the HC Kyle Shanahan wanted to turn for Campbell.
However, the veteran LB was in no mood to step down on the field. “He said he didn’t want to play today,” coach Shanahan said. Honestly, that sounds disheartening for both the roster and the Niners fans as well. Well, it would be wrong to say that De’Vondre Campbell’s quitting the field in the third quarter cost the 49ers their game. However, the teammates have their perspective on this.
“He’s a professional. He’s been playing for a long time. If he didn’t want to play, he shouldn’t have dressed,” said the cornerback Charvarius Ward. Indeed! The 49ers signed Campbell over a one-year contract and he started 12 games out of the first 13 games of the Niners. He played nearly every defensive snap, racking up 79 tackles and even getting in on a few tackles for loss and pass defenses. I mean, honestly, if the game scenario was otherwise, the results might have favored the 49ers.

Well, how deep did that wound the 49ers? That’s a different story for the roster. With this loss, they have just a 0.1% chance (well, officially eliminated) from the postseason race. On the flip side, Matthew Stafford’s Rams are now racing towards their journey for a playoff berth.
