Another week. Another firing rumor in the NFL world. Well, this year’s Thanksgiving was not a good day for the Bears. The team lost to the Lions by a narrow margin of 23-20. Although they made a fantastic effort, it appears that this loss has caused Matt Eberflus‘ heart race. But why is that?

Actually, there are rumors concerning Eberflus’ firing have resurfaced, and this time they are spreading like wildfire. Even NFL insiders have hinted that it might happen anytime soon.

For those who missed it, David Kaplan discussed Matt Eberflus on Unsportsmanlike Radio. And there the man detailed what is going on behind the scenes with team management.

Kaplan hinted that there is a possibility that Matt Eberflus’ firing is in the works now. According to him, this is a good thing for the team. He went on to state that the HC is “not fit” for this position as a result of these judgments. Further emphasizing, “You can’t allow him one more day to have anything to do with the development of your quarterback and of your football team.”

Kaplan also recounted how Eberflus is the reason why the team is not shining. A recent example would be the timeout incident against the Lions. The head coach should have called a timeout after losing 13 yards for free. This may have halted the Lions’ momentum and given the Bears a much-needed reprieve.

But, no. The HC did not consider this and referred to the occurrence as something they planned. This definitely does not look good, and Kaplan pointed it up.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Matt Eberflus the real reason behind the Bears' struggles, or is he just a scapegoat?

Matt Eberflus is the reason Caleb Williams did not call a timeout

Everyone is aware that the quarterback can also call a timeout. However, the HC has not granted Caleb Williams the authority to do so. Williams had 32 seconds left to make the last play. And with the ball in his hand and all the pressure. Just imagine the rush on the field, and how everyone’s hearts would have been racing. And being there in the center, obviously, the quarterback did not have his eyes on the clock.

Williams was just doing his job and doing what the HC was saying. But, in the end, it did not pay off. The QB explained all this in the post-game conference, “In that situation, I’m living with the call and letting coaches make that decision. … Maybe in the later years of my career [he may call a timeout himself], right now I get the call and I’m trying to lead my team to a win.”

After all of this, it’s evident that David Kaplan may be correct about Matt Eberflus. The HC is unable to make key decisions, as a result of which the entire team suffers. It will be fascinating to watch if the man is sacked or not. So stay tuned for more updates about his firing updates.
