Andy Reid's roster choices—are the Chiefs ready to dominate the NFL once again?

2024 is the race for history. Chiefs are aiming for a 3-peat. And they added one more WR to their stuffed roster. Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown! In his 6th NFL year, the team wants him to rise to the occasion. But the roadblock came earlier than expected. During the 1st preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the wide receiver suffered a shoulder injury. Then, he missed the entire preseason. Now everyone’s waiting for an injury update.

On the 30th of August, Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid said he didn’t expect the WR to be back for the week 1 game against the Baltimore Ravens. Reid mentioned, “Hollywood won’t be back this week, and we’ll just see how it goes. But the kid’s amazing. I mean, his progress has been incredible, but I wouldn’t predict him being there this week.” His prediction has come true.

ESPN’s Adam Teicher recently tweeted that all players will practice except Marquise Brown. It means that he is still not fully fit for the season kickoff game. However, the team hasn’t put him on the Injury Reserve list, and is working tirelessly on his timely rehab.

Without the WR available for the first week, the team is looking for other options.

Have an interesting take?

The Chiefs have amped up their WR department. The most notable move was bringing Juju Smith-Schuster in. They had traded him to the Patriots after winning Super Bowl LVII in 2023. But he didn’t find suitable conditions there. And as soon as the Pats put him up for trade, the Chiefs were quick to bag him again.

They also have Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy. But the duo is currently facing an issue or another. Rice is facing legal troubles because of an accident and can be suspended by the NFL, even though the WR is not going to face any legal bans. Worthy doesn’t have the experience of playing in the biggest yet toughest football league.

Mahomes and Reid are checking up on Marquise Brown’s injury rehab every day. His career also needs revival as he is on a 1-year contract with the Chiefs. Chiefdom, brace yourself for the nail-biting season ahead.
