The upcoming NFL international game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins is generating excitement as both teams boast impressive 6-2 records, making them top contenders in the AFC. This highly-anticipated matchup is set to take place in Germany, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the league’s second regular season venture abroad. But why in Germany?

The choice of Germany for the NFL game is no coincidence. The Kansas City Chiefs had a say in the location, and they seized the opportunity because they hold global marketing rights in Germany. While divisional games usually stay within the country, the Chiefs, as the home team, were limited to just six possible home opponents. So, Germany emerged as the perfect stage for a truly international NFL experience. However, there is a specific Chiefs player who’s not quite happy with his team’s decision.

The NFL scored a win with Kansas City and Miami as the first Germany-game of the year. However, this meant the Chiefs had to sacrifice a home game for the international showcase. Still, the wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling didn’t show much interest in crossing international borders to thrive for the end zone against the Dolphins. He said, “Yeah, it sucks, I’ve got to find a babysitter for my dogs for a couple days.”

He pointed out that he understands there are a lot of fans who are excited to see them in Germany. But he still feels it’s not fair for the players to travel so far away from their loved ones. He stated, “It does suck for the players to have to be away from their families.” For this, he even received some backlash from the fans.
