Andrews has received the ball a whopping 45 times this season. His positioning and accuracy have helped the Ravens lead the AFC North group. With an 8-3 record, the Ravens have all but secured a playoff spot, but Mark Andrews won’t be a part of that. His salary of $7.5 million is secured due to his contract with the Ravens, even if he is injured!
Mark Andrews has bills to pay

The 28-year-old TE suffered a season-ending injury this Thursday. His right ankle got damaged early in the game. This kind of injury requires surgery and then a rehabilitation period of about 7-8 months. His normal expenses aside, Andrews is bound to collect a substantial amount of medical bills.

The National Football League Players Association, or NFLPA is a union of football players. And all the NFL players are a part of the union. The NFLPA secures the rights and dignities of injured players since the Collective Bargaining Agreement, CBA, covers them.

CBA ensures that the injured players are taken care of by their franchises. Apart from providing in-house medical facilities, if the player chooses to get a second opinion from outside, the franchise must pay those bills as well. From surgery to rehabilitation to physical therapy, everything is covered within the CBA. And the franchise is required to pay for all the expenses incurred.
Andrews will be missed at the Ravens
Informing the world about Andrews’ injury, HC John Harbaugh assured of his commitment to Andrews. He said, “Our prayers will be with Mark. We’re gonna be with him all the way”. Not only that, but the HC also detailed Andrews’ faithfulness to the team.

The 61-year-old HC further said, “Nobody cares more about the team and being there for the guys than Mark Andrews”. But the Ravens have to start to learn to play without Andrews if they want to go all the way. And the process begins in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Chargers are 4-5 this season and must secure a win against the Ravens to keep the playoffs hope alive. While the Ravens are comfortable right now, they’d want to keep up with their habit of winning, despite losing Andrews.
